Introducing the Blueshirt Banter Hockey League (NHL 10 - Xbox 360) - UPDATED League Full

PrintWith the leaves changing and the thermometer dropping, Hockey is back in full swing with the Rangers nearing their tenth game of the season and NHL 10 being out for just over a month now. What we would like to do here at Blueshirt Banter is create a league for the NHL 10 (Xbox 360, sorry PS3) players to see just who is king of NHL 10 around these parts. As some of you saw, I created an NHL 10 thread last week at this time to gauge interest, and the response was great. This article here is inform anyone and everyone on how the league will work, and if you think you're up for a challenge (I think I'm the favorite to win this thing) then just confirm your spot in the comments and follow the instructions to join.
Blueshirt Banter Hockey League Facts:
- Maximum of 20 players allowed.
- 1 league game played per week - There will be a schedule released each week. You will play one player each week. This will be explained more in depth at a later point.
- Each player will play each other player once for a 19 game season.
- Playoffs will be five game series (I think 8 or 10 teams will make playoffs, not sure until schedule is created after we start the league)
- The league will have two "GM's" (Commissioners/Players who have powers to change league stuff); myself (HOTSAUCE17) and my brother Chris (Butters98). He will be the second commish because he is a phone call away from fixing any problems.
- Unfortunately, I will be occupying the New York Rangers in the league. I had to pick a team to start the league, and I think I earn the right to be the Blueshirts because I'm organizing this.
- There isn't much glitching, but if you cheat and I find out you will obviously be kicked out of the league. Unnecessary/Overkill of the fighting feature will also be frowned upon.
- Players who do not finish games will be on the three strike system in terms of discipline.
- If internet connections do not work out for some reason, be honest and try to figure it out. If not, play the game at a later date and let Rob (HOTSAUCE17) know of the situation

Instructions to join the BBHL on Xbox:
1. Boot up NHL 10, select the XBOX LIVE tab
2. Scroll down to MY LEAGUES, select tab
3. Scroll up two to SEARCH LEAGUES, press A
4. You can search for the league in two ways. The first is the easiest, by typing BBHL into the Abbreviation box. Leave "ADVANCED LEAGUE SEARCH" as NO. Scroll down and press search which should yield three choices, scroll down to the last one titled "Blueshirt Banter." The second way would be to type "Blueshirt Banter" into the league name. Leave Adanced League search on NO and do the same as above. This should yield one result, Blueshirt Banter. Press A.
5. Select your team (which you have been assigned above).
6. Then it asks for you to enter the password. The password for the league is EXACTLY the following: avery16
Note: It might/should say that a player joined the league then was kicked. That was me on another Xbox testing my directions. Also, if you join the league and do not sign up in the comments, I will kick you out.
Well, if you're still reading you're in the league at this point. Hopefully this all works out and we get games done, as it should be a fun time. If not, well, we all have nothing to lose except time wasted (or well spent?). If anyone has any questions use this thread while it's up (it should be on the sidebar as well for a month) and then as this gets older I will replace it with a new one. This is my first time creating a league, so there might be some hiccups, but in the end I think we will be alright.
---UPDATE 10/21 AT 10 PM EST---
In response to the team situation (multiple people picking the same teams), I have decided that I will delete the league (which I have done already) and re-create when we have twenty people to play the league with. We have 16 as of right now (the 16 that signed up online so far), so we need 1 more people to join. I can't really think of a better way other than first come, first serve will get into the league. If the league is a success in its first season, I will make it bigger for a second. Please scroll up to the top of the post as well and read the bold updated section about playing two games per week.
Once I finalize the list of 20 players (tonight or tommorrow) - I will pick teams out of a hat. 28 teams will be avaliable as I am removing the Islanders (no one wants the fishsticks) and I am occupying the Rangers. All the league information in order to join is the same, so follow the instructions above.
---UPDATE 10/23 AT 10:30 PM EST---
League singups are closed. The league will consist of 18 members for an 17 game season. At least one league game will be played per week if not two. The schedule will be released Sunday October 25th to start the season. Follow the instructions above to join the league. Good luck!

So I accidently listed efizzle twice, so its actually an 18 person league. Either way, as of right now only 11 have joined online. I will not release the schedule until we have 18 registered online. If you have joined you can see the bold joined next to your name above.

When you join the league its going to prompt you to pick a team – just pick any NHL team that is available.

The only reason I posted the list from the previous thread is because if one of those players comes in and says I want a spot and the league is full they will get a spot because of first dibs.

I kinda think this is cheesy, but if you guys are fine with almost everybody being the Rangers i dont care. If you want to change ill change my team i guess Rob kinda deserves them anyhow.

The league should be the one who decides who has what team. That is how the commish did it last year when I played in an 09 league. Just makes it more realistic and less cheesy.

In response to all above...
1. This is a regular team league not an EASHL team. You pick and play as an NHL team.
2. I don’t know why but apparently people can be whatever team they way, no matter who else they are. If you support me sorting teams out for each person, respond to this and I will do a random draw.
3. I’m going to play a club hockey league game for tonight. I will come back and update the list and such and work out some of the issues so far.
I just ask for everyone’s patience as this is a learning process for me as well. Thanks for all the interest, though.

Can you guys change your teams? As creator of the league I can’t. I have decided to randomize teams among all of us, but if you guys cant change teams then we will have to just re-start the league – which isn’t a big deal.

You cant change your team once your in the league. It doesnt give you the option to make it one user per team 09’ automatically crossed a team off once someone picked them. Leave it to EA to fix shit that aint broke.

Well, tomorrow I might might do a random draw and re-create the league so we don’t have overlapping teams. We’re in no rush here.

Which Will Happen
I decided the best way to do it is to randomly assign teams and then re-create the league. I’m currently studying for a test at 2:30 PM EST and I should be done by 4. No guarantees that I be working on the league right after that, but I plan on doing something with it later after I calm down from the test.

If everyone team is controlled by a user then how will we coordinate games so that both users are online, assuming there is no games played against the computer. If I am missing something fill me in because I am not sure how this would work.

its not the full league
mkedmp I’d suggest reading the full post. Other info you should know is its not an actual 30 team 82 game season. Players play each other whenever another is online. There is no computers involved only human players.

I have a couple friends who might want in if theres still spots open, how does this work? is there a schedule or do you just play people when you see them online?
One Game Per Week, Schedule Released
As it says above in the update, we will play at least one game per week (19 game season, some weeks we will play two a week due to xbox constraints by me). I will release the schedule on Saturday or Sunday and you have one week to get a time with your opponent that week and get the game done.

2. @STRADES !!! – You we’re assigned the Dallas Stars, not Vancouver. Please quit and re-join the league as Dallas.
Once these happen (hopefully by tomorrow), I’ll put up a schedule and we can start.

Guys remember this is just going to be a fun league and IMO regarding the Sharks selection by djolivia it doesn’t matter what team you are because if you are a good player you should win either way.
