A few stories on the nets this morning. News may be slow in coming today, as I will be traveling later this morning. If we don't get it posted first, feel free to post any news you hear as a Fan Post, its always appreciated.

We didn't talk about this yesterday but Henrik Lundqvist was in a very minor (minor, minor) car accident yesterday, his car skidded into a guardrail on the Saw Mill Parkway. He is fine, no other cars were involved, and he is expected to play tonight. Did I mention it was minor?

The Daily News has a non-update on Gaborik:

Asked to confirm whether it was a lower-body injury, Tortorella said, "It's a body injury."

Still, Gaborik's absence from practice Tuesday leaves open the question of whether he can go tonight, and if he can't - or if the Rangers simply err on the side of caution - that clouds the picture for his highly anticipated return on Friday night to Minnesota, where he was an injury-plagued star for his first eight NHL seasons.

I know this is a few days old, but I don't read them much, did the Daily News really use the word "thrice" in this headline?

Dominik over at Lighthouse Hockey has a look back at where the Isles and Rangers were a year ago, and where they are now.

Somehow the Pioneer Press knows already that Marian Gaborik is "doubtful" for Friday night's game against the Wild.

My guess is Gaborik sits tonight, plays Friday. If its "nothing serious" as everyone with the Rangers say it is, then 3-4 days off the ice should be enough. I just wish sports teams weren't so damn secretive when it comes to injuries.

Remember, we will be at Croxley's in Farmingdale, NY tonight if you can make it, then Cafe 31 in the city tomorrow.

I’d really like to see Gabs wipe the floor with the Islanders. Plus, let’s face it, I’d rather win on the Island and lose in Minnesota. I mean, we’re talking the difference between an in division game and a out of conference game here.

yeah, but it sure would be nice to see Gabby hang 5 or 6 goals on them for the way the fans and team badmouthed him on the way out the door

Let gabs sit as long as need be. We need him for more than just this season, and I’d like to seem him play for the next 4 years. Plus this is a perfect opportunity for Higgy, Dubi, Cally, and especially the “Captain” to produce in his absence. Don’t get me wrong here if this was any other player with a minuet injury i would say skate it off, but being Gabby we gotta treat him like were preserving a snowflake.

I agree, if he sits out one game its not a big deal (especially against the Islanders). Bottom line is he needs to be healthy and we don’t want to rush him, because it could result in the injury getting worse. And like I said before, however bad that might sound, I am willing to personally massage Gaborik’s groin just so he stays healthy and scores 50+ goals for us! lol

Does anyone know where on the Saw Mill Henrik’s fender-bender was?

by XLII on Oct 28, 2009 10:57 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

No, but I am curious to know what car he drives. Probably a Saab or a Volvo hehe

Good thing he didn’t pull a Charlie Davies. When I first heard the report on WFAN yesterday I almost had two accidents, one in my car, the other in my pants.

that’s a nice car….but he must have another one, my guess an SUV to drive in rain/snow. Although Lambrghinis do have AWD I believe….

Yeah

But it’s somewhat telling. I think the odds that PA will be making his Rangers debut tonight just increased.

Damn I really want to see gaborik light it up on the island. I mean I’m all about preserving our golden boy here but I dvr’ed the game and I went back watched the last ten mintues of the game and on his last shift he had the smallest collision and if that is the one that’s keeping him out there’ are a lot more of these to come. I mean i love the way he plays he seems to like ny so I def want him here don’t get me wrong but if this is the case he’s gonna be playing 65 games a year. I know it probably won’t cost us a playoff spot but it will hurt in the standings.

Gross reported no Gaborik, no Brashear tonight, PA will play. should be some interesting lines tonight, unless they just plan on sticking PA in gabby’s spot. I would rather move cally up and see if playing with prospal could get him going.

No Gaborik tonight. I like the conservative approach, assuming this is indeed a minor injury and they’re not covering up something more substantial.

what type of guy is parenteau?
