Rangers Notes: Higgins at Center, Parenteau back
From Ranger Rants: (click link for full story)
Here’s how: the left wing’s presence will allow coach John Tortorella to move Christopher Higgins from left wing to center on a line with Parenteau and Ales Kotalik (at least based on today’s line rushes). Tortorella also had Vinny Prospal centering Enver Lisin and Marian Gaborik and Brian Boyle back on the fourth line after he lost eight of 10 faceoffs in between Donald Brashear and Aaron Voros. Artem Anisimov and Sean Avery were on a two-thirds line today with RW Ryan Callahan missing today’s practice. Callahan was stiff and sore after blocking a shot from Pavel Kubina but Tortorella said the team’s sparkplug would be able to play tomorrow in Ottawa.
I know I am way overstating the obvious here, but Callahan really needs to get going. It's times like these where you earn that "A" on your sweater.
Obernauer at the Daily News also has some thoughts from John Tortorella on Parenteau being back:
"He deserves to be brought up versus others," Tortorella said today. "We’ve talked about a few other players down there, and this is the guy who’s been pretty consistent as far as what he’s done in that league. And each time he comes, each times he plays I think he gets more familiar with everything - surroundings, teammates, coaches, our travel, our schedule, everything about it - and you hope it starts growing on him and he becomes more consistent all the time. And then you never know where it goes."

VOROS
Voros must be in charge of the buffet table after games because I can’t see for the life of me why he is still here !!!

i didnt see the point in sending down byers to keep voros. waive voros and let byers have a real shot to be here as a 4th liner.

hes not that bad when hes not taking penalties thats all the defense hes getting from me. and someone tell me why we couldn’t have sjostrom at a mill or betts for 700 k instead this year scratching him or sending him down while having one of two of our best pk guys back for one more year.

Brooks implies to replace Roszsival and his $5 million cap hit with Sanguinetti.
Something has to be done about Rozsival. He has been far and away our WORST defenseman. The entire defensive corps has been up and down most of the year due to a system change but Rozsival is showing no signs improvement and is constantly costing us at key times.
Wheres Tortorella’s accountability? Send Rozsival to Hartford and replace him with Sanguinetti. Sanguinetti is playing well defensively in the AHL and is 7th in league points. 3 rookies on the team is a concern I know but at best his play will surely match that of Rozsival’s which to me, nullifies any concern. Then you use the extra money saved from Rozsival to shop for a 7th veteran defenseman.
This defense is killing us.

i agree Rozi needs to go and that Sangs is playing well, but Brooks is only implying that so he can go back to writing about us trading for every huge contract that could be available the rest of the year.

I don’t think anyone will take Rozi’s contract. We’re gonna have to stick this one out through the rest of the year most likely.

Drury and Rozsival both have 2 years left after this year, and there cap hits become exponentially lesser: Up to $5 and $3 million respectively, but thats not guaranteed. Realistically its around $4 and $2.
Rozsival COULD be gone by this years trade deadline, you never know.
As long as Rozsival is gone. Please.

Incorrect
The money owed to them dips, but the cap hit doesn’t change.

exactly, but with a lot of cheap owners out there it could make them more tradeable because it would allow them to hit the cap levels easier without actually paying out the same salary

PLEASE SEND ROZSIVAL DOWN!!!
which in turn means teams that are looking to rebuild and want good prospects in a package with rozy would be an option, im sorry to say it but one of our good prospects will have to go if rozy is traded. also im sure if hes moved down through waivers of coarse lol, we are going with sangs full time and were trading for someone probably from chicago. sather is the dumbest smart gm in the league he’ll find out what to do before the deadline. i really want torts to put his foot down and keep rozys minutes to 10 a game on the checking line so atleast the other guys can play defense while hes lolli gagging around.

i hate to say it...
but i think maybe someone will take rosival if we package him with dubi…i like dubi but i dont see him becoming anything more than he already is…i thought at the beginning of the season he would have an offensive burst this year playing with gabby but I just don’t see it anymore…also we have some good center prospects in locke, grachev, and stepan…but i definitely think that getting rid of rosival is key if the rangers wanna win this year
i really hope im wrong and dubi becomes an all-star but he just isn’t consistent
