NHL News: Brendan Shanahan Officially Retires
According to TSN.ca, Brendan Shanahan has officially brought his 21 year NHL career to an end. Shanahan played with the Devils, Blues, Red Wings, Hartford Whalers, and of course the Rangers. Shanny hangs them up with 656 goals, 698 assists, three Stanley Cups, and an Olympic Gold Medal.
Shanny was as hard nosed as they come, and he will be missed in the NHL.

I liked him as a Ranger and don’t think he was treated right by Glen Sather who basically told him to just “hang out” and wait for a phone call from Glen which may or may not come. Maybe there was more to this story but that’s how I saw it. I also think he still could have helped us last season when we had all kinds of scoring problems. (even in a limited role like PP or PK).
