Rangers Gameday: News, Notes, Scouting the Panthers

Say hello to Judy, she is a Florida Panther Ice Dancer

Say hello to Judy, she is a Florida Panther Ice Dancer

For those of you that are looking at this four game stretch the Rangers have against Florida (twice), Columbus and Tampa Bay as some kind of opportunity for the Rangers to find their game against lesser opponents, there is something you should know:

The Panthers are 7-2-1 in their last ten games. They are fresh off an overtime win over the Detroit Red Wings last night at Joe Louis Arena. It may be the Panthers who are looking forward to feasting on a weak opponent instead.

Assuming Henrik Lundqvist will get the start tonight against Tomas Vokoun. Scott Clemmenson played last night for the Panthers, and was spectacular, making 39 saves.

Vokoun is 6-5-1 lifetime against the Rangers, with a GAA of 2.62, and one shutout. Lundqvist has compiled a 7-4 record against Florida, with an impressive goals against of 2.03.

One advantage the Rangers may have is on the power play, Florida's penalty killing ranks 29th in the league, only Toronto is worse. However, the Rangers will have their work cut out for them drawing penalties, the Panthers are 7th in the league for least minors taken. Florida's power play is also amongst the worst in the league.

I'm sure you have noticed Judy, the girl whose picture appears in this story. She is a Florida Panther Ice Dancer, and it beats the hell out of a picture of Nathan Horton.
