Rangers News: Bobby Sanguinetti's Back
Bobby Sanguinetti has been called up from the Pack. Now the question is, who will be sent down? Most likely Heikkinen, but we can dream...
Here is the release from the Rangers website:
New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that defenseman Bobby Sanguinetti has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Sanguinetti, 21, has skated in three games with the Rangers this season. He made his NHL debut on November 27 at Tampa Bay. Sanguinetti has registered six goals and 17 assists for 23 points with Hartford this season.
The second-year player is currently tied for the AHL lead among defensemen in scoring and ranks second overall on Hartford with 23 points. He has registered six multi-point efforts on the season, including an AHL career-high four-point performance on October 31 against Providence (two goals and two assists).

this is what happens when you have a gm who wont admit his contract mistakes, you bring up Sangs who is not as good as Gilroy just because of cap considerations.
Chances this is about showcasing Sangs for a trade?
I was thinking maybe Girardi’s on his way out, maybe for Mueller, which I’m sure is not dead yet.

if rumors of sangs for mueller are real than girardi should net more than mueller. trade sangs for mueller and girardi for picks.

Sangs for Mueller straight up was rejected (laughed at?) by PHX. Girardi straight up might work. I’m positive that I wouldn’t make that trade…..
how about higgins and girardi for mueller and michalek?

defensive defenseman. 6 2 210lbs plays 22:30 a night but can produce some points, roughly 25 a year. led the league in blocked shots last year. his brother is the one who was on SJ and now plays for Ott. UFA at the end of the year.
2G 7A +6 so far this year.

plays physical? I really want us to have an intimidating hitter on the blueline that plays good defense. I guess McDonagh might be the answer, but he might not be ready yet next season
McDonagh will def. not be ready next year – may not even be ready the year after that. He did not have a particularly good start to the college season – although recent reports seem to indicate improvement.
I’m looking for the same thing – the physical presence d-man who can clear the crease (or intimidate people from ever getting there). It’s my opinion that if you take care of that need – the rest falls into place with the current crop of forwards (admittedly assuming that they start to put the puck IN the damn net instead of “nearby”)…..

2008-2009 Coyotes 72 13 23
2009-2010 Coyotes 28 1 5 6
21 years old, 6’2" 200 lbs
which would be the only reason he is available to begin with. Also what happens when you go from playing 1st line min to 3rd, even 4th line minutes lately. Talent is obviously there if he scored 22 goals as a 19 year old so it has to be a motivation issue.
Only 21, was graded and 8.5 B by hockeysfuture when he came out.
kyle turris intrigues me more as an upside player if we are talking another coyotes trade, but would probably cost more.

also this year tippett plays a much more defensive system and the adjustment appears to have thrown off Mueller.
the bigger question i have about mueller is if he truly recovered from the concussion or is playing scared since it because before the concussion he had 31 pts in 50 games and since he has 12 in 50 games.

Kind of funny how...
Mueller’s situation now, is so similar to what Prucha’s was when we dealt him at the deadline last year. Both had big rookie year’s followed by a steady decrease in both ice time and production. I’ve watched him play a bit, and he is most definitely a skilled player, but as it has been said on this board already he takes some nights off. I can’t say that he is worth much more than a prospect at this point; he has a lot to prove and the last thing we need is to give up a fairly reliable top four defenseman for another forward who is having a tough time putting the puck in the net.
