Well, its 15 minutes to game time,

I won’t be listening to Washington Capitals hockey on Vs, I watch the game and listen to the Rangers radio feed online, to hell with the delay.

some notes from Zipay

Don’t see Orr in warmups, Anisimov wearing 42

  • Before the game, workers filled the spaces between the panes of glass behind the visitors’ bench with plexiglas rods
  • Mike Green’s mohawk is formidable
  • One fan is holding a sign saying “Shhh…the Rangers are sensitive.”
  • The refs: Dan O’Halloran, Brad Watson

did you hear about this?

Somebody posing as a Washington Post reporter convinced ESPN on Monday that one of the Washington Capitals’ star players had been suspended for Tuesday’s decisive Eastern Conference playoff Game 7 against the New York Rangers.

“I was on my way to the rink this morning and my buddy called me and was a little upset I was missing Game 7,” said Capitals defenseman Mike Green, a finalist for the Norris Trophy given to the NHL’s top defenseman.

“I had no idea what for. It kind of caught me off guard.”

ESPN SportsCenter hosts Josh Elliot and Hannah Storm relayed that Green and teammate Donald Brashear were suspended under a “Breaking News” banner Monday at 9:52 a.m.

I'm not sure what to think

The Rangers puck possession is great, but the Caps D has been even better. All their puck control hasn’t resulted in scoring chances.

This reminds me of last years Boston College team. They could get dominated for long periods of time, but then get a stupid play in transition and pop one in.

they just have to throw it at the net and fight for rebounds

6 games, 2 periods, it all comes down to 20 minutes.

I think if the Rangers can keep up the forecheck and moving the puck they way they have, they can wear the Caps down, maybe start drawing some penalties. I think the chances will come

there is still good playoff hockey left to watch. i think it’ll be bruins – ducks finals.

by Pookie on Apr 28, 2009 9:34 PM EDT up reply actions

Exacltly

plenty of Hockey.

I love watching these other teams cuz aside from Lundqvist, the Rangers don’t have nearly the talen as these other teams. Its amazing how basically every single team in the playoffs at least give that threat that they can score goals. The Rangers do nothing of the sort.

I am excited for next season tho. I think Torts earned a full season at the very least given that he took these mopes here.

by FreeBradshaw on Apr 28, 2009 9:38 PM EDT up reply actions

chicago ’hawks have looked amazing, scoring in swarms. ducks look almost unbeatable, with pronger and niedermayer playing D together. we definitely want a team to take detroit out of the finals. bruins look really strong.

lundqvist was amazing in this game; he did everything for his teammates except score goals for them. he gives rangers a chance in every game. they need to score some goals for him.

by Pookie on Apr 28, 2009 9:47 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm definitely rooting for the DUCKS!

bobby ryan’s having an incredible playoff.
yeah the hawks looked pretty good too but they beat calgary and the flames had no D and mediocre goaltending.

right now it looks like 3 teams are in it to win it – in this order:

1. Detroit
2. Anaheim
3. Boston

And yeah, the pain is already starting to go away, this was an incredible season and we have so much young talent on our team, i’m already excited for next year!

THANK YOU RANGERS FOR A WONDERFUL SERIES.

by #17ToTheRafters on Apr 28, 2009 11:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Bygones. We both got some bad bounces, our luck lasted just a tick longer.

It’ll be a good rivalry

by snowburnt on Apr 28, 2009 9:56 PM EDT up reply actions

Super disappointing.

I know that when the series started if someone said you can have a tie game with 5 minutes to go in game 7, I would have taken it, but, man, that sux.

Federov just had that one. It was a great shot, and we had no offense to counter with whatsoever.

Yeah

They are the better team and played the better series. But they gave us hope. I hate hope. It usually leads to disappointment.

by Reg Dunlop on Apr 28, 2009 9:37 PM EDT up reply actions

Congrats on a well played series.

Hope you will bandwagon with us against (probably) the Devils.

Class effort by the Rangers this series, and especially this game.
