Carter Ashton is giving him a run for his money

My Vote

I voted for Simon Despres because I always advocate drafting the best player available, no matter what your organizational needs are. If at a later date you want to make a few trades then you can pick & choose from your prospects who to trade for what you need. According to several scouting websites I’ve looked at, Despres is ranked in the top 6 – if he falls into the Rangers hands w/ the 19th pick (unlikely) then they’d have to take him. My 2nd pick would be Ashton Carter based on his size, the kid is already up in the 200lb category and that is something the Rangers need up front, size on the wings

I voted Carter Ashton, but I’m thinking it might be worth taking a gamble on Chris Kreider who has a nice combination of Size and Skating (with Speed).

Its always hard to pass up on those big forwards, which is why Jordan Caron may be someone to keep an eye on when the Rangers select Friday night.

I think it’s too early to tell. I think Glennie, Ashton and Despres will be gone well before the Rangers selection. Kreider is a definite possibility. As is Caron (although Sather has never seemed like the French Canadian loving type). I think with the amount of talented D in the system (Gilroy, Del Zotto, Sanguinetti) you’re better off picking a forward. I’d say one of the NTDP kids (Palmieri, Shore, Morin) or someone like Peter Holland who I had going to the Rangers in my Mock Draft.

Check out Holland’s scouting profile from MyNHLDraft.com.

I agree, I’d be very surprised if Glennie and Despres make it that deep into the draft.

I still think Ashton, and if he’s gone then Kreider. If Kreider’s gone… Morin is a natural goal scorer, which makes him (obviously) quite intruiging… Especially if he works hard on his skating.

Hey Isles what are you doing here? SHOO SHOO

Haha i kid i kid. The NHL mock drafts are kind of crazy. One of them, I think Holland’s, has Nazem Kadri slipping to the Rangers; Kadri should be a top 10 pick easy. It all depends on draft day.

I have a mock draft for the Banter going up next week and im not going to give any spoilers but all of your boys up there made the cut. It should be fun.

I’m always for the spirit of Hockey Fan first, hating the Rangers and their fans guts…a close second. LOL!

I’m glad to hear that my predictions aren’t that far off. I don’t see Kadri making it to the Rangers because I don’t think that the Canadiens would let him slip past them if he falls into their laps. We shall see, however.

I agree in one of the other mock drafts for the NHL

they had ellis going to the Rangers. No way the Habs let him slip by their grimy-erm clean hands

well Ashton won the poll, and was our selection, although the poll voting was only a part of the reasoning in selecting him.

Dark Horses

Kyle Palmieri(Rangers fan) and Tim Erickson(Rangers son) are both getting a lot of buzz from the Rangers.

Palmieri is a USA product, plays both Center and right wing, shoots right and has legit strength, both mentally and physically.

Erickson is a skilled defenseman with a “tough” game. He’s the son of former Ranger Jan Erickson and the Rangers may draft the kid, to put a more physical defenseman on the ice.

I love the fact they got Bourqes kid in the third. I’ve heard some good talk of him through the internet. He may not be his father but holy crap he’s a spitten image. Maybe he’ll be the same way on the ice
