Rangers Make Gomez Available

The Los Angeles Kings have been linked all spring to Tampa Bay star Vincent Lecavalier, but we're told those talks have cooled off for now. One Eastern Conference source told us Saturday the New York Rangers have made Scott Gomez available around the league, but we're not sure how interested the Kings are in him. It's a heck of a big contract.

I've been wondering

if the rangers would ever ask about Lecavalier. I don’t know if him and Torts were ever enemies, not sure on that.

But Gomez’ contract would at least allow Tampa to remain over the low threshold which is important too.

I don’t know what else it would cost, but maybe tampa would be interested?

The Rangers making Gomez “available?” That’s like me taking a Kia Rio, and putting on my lawn with a sign that says “For Sale for $50,000”.

This was bound to happen, for what he’s getting paid and how how he’s scoring it just doesn’t fit.

i don't understand.

no one’s expecting gomer to score goals. he’s scored more than 20 only once in his career – (9 years). i doubt he’ll get picked-up by anyone, but giving up on scottie would be a mistake. if he has a goal scorer on his line, that’s 50 assists almost guaranteed.

plus, his interviews are the best.

He’s not going anywhere unless they take on salary. If it’s the Edmonton rumor again, then assume Penner ($4.5 million) and Staois ($2.8 million).

Dumping Gomez

That would completely change our prospects for the summer. Right now most fans are expecting to find that finisher for Gomez/the younger Naslund. If we get rid of Gomer, who do we pick up?
