Rangers News: Rangers sign Donald Brashear

After losing Colton Orr to the Leafs, the Rangers have replaced him with Donald Brashear. Terms are rumored to be 2 years, $2.8M

I know most of you aren't thrilled with this, can't say I am either, but they need a tough guy with Pronger around. It's not like Brashear is going to get a whole lot of ice time anyway.

Hopefully more exciting news later.

Don't forget, Blueshirt Banter Radio tonight at 7:30 PM, you can weigh in on the signing.

WTF!!

How the hell are any Rangers from last year going to be able to play with this goon after the Betts incident?! That would be like Pedro signing with the Yankees after he tossed down Zimm or signing Melo after he sucker punched the Knicks.
I’m very disappointed about this move.

i hope this isnt a foreshadowing of sather just replacing every player they lost with what he thinks is a replica

What is he thinking

Sather gives an old man a 2year deat at 2.8, but lets Orr walk for 1mil a year. What the hell, at least Orr was a stand up guy, this bum is a cheap shot artist. We need offense so lets add a fourth liner. Smart very smart.

Without being too too much of a troll, and I know it might come off trolly, which is not the intent, calling Brash a cheap shot artist for a dirty hit on your guy (Which I didn’t think was dirty, but that may be me thinking my guy can’t do wrong) and saying Orr is a stand up guy is laughable. Every enforcer plays dirty. There is little class in enforcing. But, that’s not why I came to post. Regardless, Brashear is by no means worth anywhere near what Sather gave him, and I legitimately do feel sorry for Rangers fans for that.

I really hope you guys don’t land Heatley, for what it’s worth. Class being class, Heatley has absolutely none. Also, here’s hoping Gaborik stays healthy and finds some legit chemistry with Zherdev. I’m hoping really hard for a Caps-Rangers rematch, because I’m hoping for both of us to do well. Hopefully, it’s in the conference finals.

With the Exception of this deal(And letting Sjostrom), I think the Rangers have become massively better so far today. Best of luck next season.

I'm so sick and tired of the refs explaining the calls like this is the NFL.

Brashear (or Orr for that matter) will do nothing to counterbalance Pronger. Pronger doesnt fight – He’s had 3 fights in the last two years, and no fights in the 5 years before that. And goons like Brashear who fight other goons dont scare someone like Pronger, who plays 30 minutes a game, and gets away with more stuff on 1 shift than Brashear will accomplish in a week.

But at the end of the day, a goon is a goon. You pay about a million bucks for one, tops. Sure, it would be nice if Sather didnt waste his time getting one whos 37. [Wouldnt it be nice if.we lived in a world were someone who actually contributes to the NYR’s results like Betts was able to get the attention and salary that these goons get?]

Glen Sather is a Hockey Genius.

You have to be kidding?

right after Gomez’ genius trade, he uses some of the cap room to sign this waste of life?

Sather you are officially an idiot.

Could they have signed Orr for 1/4 of that?

I have always felt that Brashear was a goon, one of the tougher goons around at that, who could play a little bit. That said I would have rather kept Orr for half the price.

No night spent pantsless is a wasted night.

Sather has Alzheimers

This clown is making Mike Milbury attractive as a GM candidate. It looks like
Dolan and everyone else is going to ignore everything this moron does until
the biulding is half empty on gamenights.I have survived Trottier, trading Leetch,
and awful hockey in general, but signing this mindless thug,is icing on the cake.

wow

Sather is a tool. I almost feel like not cheering for the rangers anymore. Ive been a fan for 24 years and bringing in donald worthless f@#$ brashear….I cant believe it. like someone said, at least Orr is a stand up guy, not a douche. And then give Gaborik that much…like the rangers are getting the Carl Pavano of the NHL…..awesome moves…..Sather needs to get traded….can they do that???
