Rangers Salary Cap Situation

With the additions of Marian Gaborik, Ales Kotalik, Chris Higgins and Donald Brashear you may be wondering what the New York Rangers cap situation looks like. Well, I used CapGeek to punch in some salaries to see how close to the salary cap the Rangers are. As you'll see below, I've removed Nik Zherdev from the roster, demoted Rismiller, Arnason and Voros to the AHL and awarded Callahan ($2.3M) Dubinsky ($2M) and Korpikoski ($1.1M) new contract extensions. This leaves the Rangers a roster of 19 players about $3M under the salary cap, needing to add one to three more players to the roster, since the current lineup I have only has 11 forwards.

I see Byers or Grachev making the team out of camp this year. Though if I had to choose I would take Byers over Grachev just to have Grachev keep learning from Stan Butler in Brampton or have him learn from Ken Gernander in Hartford. Have him there and call him up midway through the season to see how he is doing, give him some experience he can bring back with him or hell if he does amazing keep him on the roster.

gross

can you print this roster out, send it to the Dolans with a letter with the players stats next to it, then show stats of players like Hossa next to the amount he makes, and show them what is happening.
Side note: the Dolans DO NOT CARE. … damn it.

I thought we were in worse shape. This isn’t that bad.

"Malik now." "6 foot 6, 238, not a noted goal scorer but he's gonna give it a shot here." "Malik has not scored this year. In on Kolzig, faked it....SCORES"

Can u imagine

How good of a team we would of had, had the money alloted were spent in a smart and economic way as opposed to the drunken sailor method in which Sather went about it? I mean $6,500,000 for Redden? Was there a huge market for Wade Redden at the time we signed him? A huge bidding war for this guy? I think not. Sather was bidding against himself. Redden’s play does not justify his salary. He is making Lidstrom or Chara type money. And you know what? I dont blame Redden not one bit. This all falls on Sathers shoulders. Someone wants to give you a mint you dont say no. I mean thank god for the retard gainey up in Montreal for taking Gomez off our hands. That allowed us fans for a little hope for next year. But im sorry this team will be handcuffed and behind the 8-ball for as long as Sather and Dolan remain in charge. All Dolan cares about are the Knicks and Cable/intenet sales. Damn you Guys for allowing the team that I bleed for becoming a laughing stock. An original six team that doesnt matter.

the Redden problem can be solved quite easily

just waive him. If the Rangers get in deep crap with the cap they will waive him.

If they waive him

or buy him out, arent we on the hook for about 2 million a year for the life of the contract as far as the cap is concerned?
