Rangers News: Lauri Korpikoski traded to Phoenix for Enver Lisin

Kukla's Korner is reporting that the Rangers have traded Lauri Korpikoski to the Phoenix Coyotes for RW Enver Lisin.

Have not found this anywhere else yet

CONFIRMED FROM COYOTES WEBSITE: TRADE IS A DONE DEAL

I have to admit, don't know much about Lisin, I will see if I can get a little scouting report on him from our friends at Five for Howling

LOL

yea I started reading that and it seems like a good trade. Korpi really didn’t show much at the NHL level in his brief time, while Lisin has at least been semi-productive.

That was just my first thought and my roomate’s been rolling for good minute now, so i thought Id share…

Official NHL news. Unfortunately, he’s gone. =(

Thing that glares out about this guy is on the NHL’s website he’s listed a -36 in 78 games. That’s a headache stat for Tortorella right there. Gotta teach him some D like Zherdev?

they make it seem like

he’s the best thing from Scandinavia since the King.

He’s FAST, that’s good. Plus he’s a winger, so I think that also played a part. Maybe him Higgy and Avery on a line (I always like Avery as a center than a winger)

I see a trend. Higgins-fast, Kotalik-fast, Gaborik-Fast.

ANd when that fails, Brashear just beats whoever runs their mouth.

Wow hockeys future loves him

i’m loving this trade

Good point FB, the Rangers seem to have a definitive plan to get faster

Even in the long range plan, Chris Kreider was regarded as one of the fastest skaters in the draft

Korp would never be more than a 3rd line center

this kid seems like he has some serious potential

I wonder what Hockey's future

would write about Korp tho.

We all could tell that in his time he really wasn;t all that.

Lisin had 21 points in 48 games. Not bad, more than Kyle Turris had in 63 games.

Maybe Sather should just trade players?…that aint true, I like all their sigings so far even if I want to beat the hell out of brashear…if I could.

Is Kotalik really fast? I didn’t know that.

So I wonder what the KHL rumors we heard last week were all about

Very true but

I believe this guy was taken in the 2nd round like 40th overall in korpikoski’s draft. I guess this goes to show you we couldn’t draft sheeettt in the pre-lockout days.

by John Mjr on Jul 13, 2009 8:50 PM EDT reply actions

you never know

look at the other Scandi’s taken ahead of Korp. They really aren’t much either.

NHL draft is a big crapshoot, especially these fore gin players

by FreeBradshaw on Jul 13, 2009 8:51 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah it jus pisses me off

mike green was taken in this draft like 10 pics after us haha

by John Mjr on Jul 13, 2009 8:56 PM EDT up reply actions

I think if you would like to get pissed off

just look at the draft where the Rangers took Hugh Jessiman with all the players taken after him who are actually in the NHL (like Zach Parise…)

by FreeBradshaw on Jul 13, 2009 8:58 PM EDT up reply actions

haha I try to block that one out of my head before I talk about Rangers drafts pics

by John Mjr on Jul 13, 2009 8:59 PM EDT up reply actions

Like Joe said (wonder where he heard it first), Korp wasn’t going to be any more than a 3rd line center for this team, sounds like the Rangers made a decent deal here on the surface

The Rangers should just swap rosters with Pheonix. I can’t keep up with the deals anymore. /s

I’ll take Turris, Boedekker and Mueller tho.

by FreeBradshaw on Jul 13, 2009 9:06 PM EDT up reply actions

I think now after realizing it was a rights for rights deal that Sather wanted to save a couple of hundred thousands to the cap. Korps is probably going to get over a million maybe even 1.5 while hopefully if I’m correct this guy will be signed at perhaps a million or just under it. Who knows, I guess it don’t hurt to ponder.

Brief scouting report from James Mirtle

He just emailed me this:

he’s considered a bit of a headcase, albeit a talented one. he defected two years ago and went to the KHL midseason.

very poor defensively from what I’ve seen

guess that's why that scouting report should be taken with a grain of salt

it said he’s a two way forward, yet in actual NHL games he’s poor defensively.

by FreeBradshaw on Jul 13, 2009 9:14 PM EDT up reply actions

i really like lisin

he has all the ability in the world but is a headcase. the risk of korpo for his potential is a no brainer for me.

Don Maloney is Glen Sather's bitch

LOL. I guess the yearly trade with Pheonix came early this year.

Lopez wants it away, and it's hit deep to left center, Andruw Jones on the run, this one has a chance... home run!!, Mike Piazza!, and the Mets lead 3 to 2!!

The Rangers have a brief piece about it on their site, it says Lisin scored a goal in the only game he’s ever played at MSG.

that’s true, considering how average Morris was and how average Or suck the players the Yanks got back from the Bucs were.

by FreeBradshaw on Jul 13, 2009 9:13 PM EDT up reply actions

and like the yanks neither of us gave anything to phx or the bucs

yankees gave a bunch of minor leaguers…only player with upside really left we ever really gave phx was montoya and i know some people will take offense and talk about prucha and dawes.

by Michael Gleich on Jul 13, 2009 9:20 PM EDT up reply actions

yea and I don't know why

prucha didn’t do anything aside from those 30 goals, Dawes nothign either.

And Montoya was just another waste of a top 10 pick on a goalie (Dan Blackburn wasn’t a waste when he played tho.)

by FreeBradshaw on Jul 13, 2009 9:28 PM EDT up reply actions

keep holding on to his one good year…thats like me saying cheechoo is a 50 goal scorer cause he did it once.

Window Lady: Welcome to Pheonix! Can I take your suggestion?

so true
Maybe Sather should just trade players?

- FreeBradshaw

I totally agree. Sather has a decent track record for getting decent “value” in trades. He gets young talent that is highly regarded. problem is none ever pan out. like josef balej.

Anyways, i think lisin scored on the rangers this past season and i was like WHO THE F IS THIS F-ING GUY.

he was very fast… so if for nothing, they got a replacement for freddy sjostrom. (also from phoenix)

I was never too crazy about korpikoski. decent player… but never showed flashes of greatness. so i dont mind the trade at all.
Sather is rolling the dice on cheaper guys. thats all

by ImaMoose on Jul 14, 2009 12:20 AM EDT reply actions

he IS better when it comes to trades it seems

even if the deals only look good when they come to NY, then for some reason they just fizzle when they hit the ice.

But he’s been pretty good lately with the signings. Kotalik is better at this point than Naslund, simply cuz he opens up the lice more.

Gaborik if he stays healthy there’s no explaining needed, the guy’s one of the best snipers in the game.

Brashear of course people want to chop his head off for Betts, but its more likely he’ll chop your head off. He’s actually a better skater than Orr too, so while he costed too much, he’s good signing too
