Rangers News: Rangers Sign RFA Enver Lisin

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with restricted free agent forward Enver Lisin.

Lisin, 23, was acquired by the Rangers from the Phoenix Coyotes, in exchange for Lauri Korpikoski on Monday.  He skated in 48 games with Phoenix last season, registering 13 goals and eight assists for 21 points, along with 24 penalty minutes.

Official Release

No word yet on contract terms. Makes me wonder whats going on with Brandon Dubinsky. Callahan has his new deal and now Lisin has his after only being a Ranger for a few weeks. It's good they signed Lisin as he was somewhat of a KHL flight risk.

I like

I want to see what this Lisin kid has to offer. There’s some speculation about how he won’t even fit into the Torts system, which makes me anticipate his game alot more. I think Torts and Sully can work on this guy and make him worth noticing around the net in no time. He definitely has the potential,

as I walked away from the computer I realized that every time I go to sleep in my Lundqvist Jersey the Rangers sign a player. Gabs (that one was obvious since it was 1st day of FA though) , Cally, Lisin, Kotalik if anyone was wondering. I want to wear it to bed tomorrow, but I fear I jinxed its powers by recognizing them. :p

You sleep wearing a hockey jersey?

That sounds extraordinarily uncomfortable. I refuse to wear anything to bed that has sleeves.

by Steeeve on Jul 21, 2009 2:54 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

wow

I wear i jersey every game day, but never to sleep. you must have some good ac, cause my house is way too hot for that this summer

back when i was a kid i use to sleep with my stick nights before games.. but a Rangers jersey? never.

I fell asleep with my hockey stick when I was like 5, woke up with a fat bloody lip in the middle of the night… So a jersey does me just fine hahaha

But Seriously

I don’t know, It is comfortable to me at least. I recently got an AC in my room lol. I also don’t plan to pass out in it, it just happens. For example, I went to sleep at like 4am and got forced to drive my younger brother to summer school. So I put the first thing I saw (Lundqvist jersey) on and walked out the door. I got home, pounded a Mcdonald’s Bfast down and passed out without hesitation. Surely enough I wake up and Lisin is Signed :p

I’m looking foward to seeing Enver … and I have a feeling that Glen is fishing Dubi around for a trade.

i’m pretty sure of it. every indication seems to point to that. he frickin’ better not be

Sather

Perhaps I am simply deluding myself, but I have my doubts about this theory. First, Dubinsky seemed to take a step forward after Tortorella took over behind the bench. And all signs seemed to indicate Dubinsky impressed the coach at the end of the regular season and particularly during the playoffs. Perhaps I am overreading Tortorella’s reaction to Dubinsky’s play. Second, say what you will about him – and there is plenty that could and should be said – but I would really hope Sather is not as tone deaf as any Dubinsky trade would imply. The fans genuinely love Dubinsky and even Sather must recognize how much a trade would negatively affect fans. Then again, this could all be wishful thinking on my part.

i’ll be livid is dubinsky is moved, but its the only reason i can tihnk of for why he doesnt have a deal yet. it shouldnt be taking this long

by Ryan McFadden on Jul 21, 2009 5:00 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Maybe Dubinsky is asking for “too much” and Sather is trying to see what he can do about that.

A Trade might be Happening

Every big trade talks we’ve been involved in (heatley, Kovalchuk, etc) either Dubinsky or Callahan has been a centerpeice to the deal. I hope he’s not, but Glen might think the only way to make a trade he wants work is to give up Dubi. Like I said, I hope that’s not true, but Dubi has drawn interest from a few teams.

shop this...

the only way ill be happy to get rid of duby is if they traded redden with him and they got someone like zdeno chara back.
seriously, what are you going to get for dubinsky right now? something even in talent? sather should roll with duby drury and anisimov for the time being. Duby is in his 3rd year and this is when people make or break careers.
AND if he isnt a 80-100 point scorer who gives a crap.
Take a look at anisimov and if hes playing good then throw him on the first line and see what production he gives you. Then duby is back on the third line, and when you have someone on the 3rd line like duby, that means you got some good depth at center. or how about rolling drury to the third line. just some ideas. What if they got richards… so what, he is good, but comes with a gomez esque price tag. you need to pull some miracles to fit him under. like wade redden retiring.

Sadly the way it is looking is Dubinsky is being shopped as part of a package for someone who can play “First-Line Center.” As such I am irritated with this. Gaborik does not need a play making Center. Gaborik is his own playmaking Center for crying out loud. I have heard compariosns of Dubinsky to Mikko Koivu over in Minnesota and you see how he fared with Gabby. Plus lets take a look at next years lines…
Gaborik-Gaborik-Gaborik
Cally-Dubinsky-Gaborik
Higgins-Drury-Kotalik
Avery-Anisimov-Lisin
Brashear-Boyle-Byers

As we clearly see Gaborik does not need a first line center…he is his own first line center.

I can't wait to not only see

the triplets Gaborik on the first line, but see the Killer B’s beat the crap out of the other team.

The three Gaborik triplets lol

Great idea!!

Lets clone Gaborik!!!!!!

Lopez wants it away, and it's hit deep to left center, Andruw Jones on the run, this one has a chance... home run!!, Mike Piazza!, and the Mets lead 3 to 2!!

I can’t wait to see Lisin in action – Gretzky thinks he’s the fastest player in the NHL. He even spent some time on the Coyotes penalty kill I read, so he’s obviously much improved. Will he put up a good handful of points like Zherdev – I don’t know. I will have fun watching obviously an extremely fast player on the Rangers – even if no one else will be able to skate with him.

"Malik now." "6 foot 6, 238, not a noted goal scorer but he's gonna give it a shot here." "Malik has not scored this year. In on Kolzig, faked it....SCORES"
