Rangers News: Derek Morris signs with Bruins

Looks like Derek Morris is officially off the Rangers list.  He has filled another former Ranger's slot in Boston.

BRUINS SIGN MORRIS TO 1-YEAR, $3.3MILLION CONTRACT

Full story from TSN

Does this mean more kids get to play for the Rangers next season?  Or are we looking at some more wheeling and dealing from Mr. Sather?  Also, does this guarantee that Rozy remains a blueshirt?  I'm already missing Paul Mara myself.

I have no idea what is going on, but really I’m not surprised Morris is gone. I think it was unanimous he’d leave.

I know for one thing, I sure feel bad for Patrick Eaves.

I enjoyed watching Morris

I wish him the Best in Boston.

Lopez wants it away, and it's hit deep to left center, Andruw Jones on the run, this one has a chance... home run!!, Mike Piazza!, and the Mets lead 3 to 2!!

However, this deal surprises me

I expected the Ward/Eaves trade and buyout was made to clear cap for the re-signing of Phil Kessel. However, I guess not. Boston is almost capped out and they will have to make other moves if they expect to get Kessel under contract.

Replacement?

I doubt we’ll go into the season with only two established veterans in Rozival and Redden — which leads me to wonder — who is Ilya Gorokhov and why is he suddenly “in the system?”

Rangers apparently drafted him looking at that page

…in 1995.

Guess they still hold his rights?

Well, they were right about one thing. Contract length wasn’t a priority of his, although I’m kinda surprised Boston wants to pay good money for Morris.

"Malik now." "6 foot 6, 238, not a noted goal scorer but he's gonna give it a shot here." "Malik has not scored this year. In on Kolzig, faked it....SCORES"

Defenseman

Staal, Redden, Rozy. The defenseman in the Habs trade is supposed to have the best chance to make the club…Pavel Valentenko. Im curious if there is anything doing with Babchuck since he mentioned them and the Canes have signed and traded for additonal defenseman?

Does Babchuck become unrestricted if the 2 sides cannot some to an agreement?

Either way we have most likely have 1-2 holes to fill on D, not 3 though.
