NHL News: Alex Tanguay reportedly signs with Lightning
According to reports, Alex Tanguay has agreed to sign with the Tampa Bay Lightning, pending a physical.
Highlights:
The two sides have reportedly been in negotiation since July, but it was not until two weeks ago when Tanguay was contacted by Lightning stars Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis that he decided to join the Bolts.
When freed of defensive shackles, the smooth skating Tanguay is a point-a-game type producer who could flourish with a change of scenery, specifically with the offensive weapons around him that the Lightning possess in Lecavalier, St. Louis, Steven Stamkos and Ryan Malone.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Tampa Bay is shaping up to be a pretty good team. Their D is much better this year, and the O should be pretty strong as well.

not too sure..
they just got Hedman, Ohlund and Walker on D, and Mike Smith is actually a pretty good goalie; he sucked through the second half last year because of post-concussion effects, but besides that he’s good. Nittymaki is not a bad back up either. I’m not saying they’re cup contenders, but I’m pretty sure they’ll contend for a playoff spot.
The lightning on paper now have a good team, but the problem i have is that historically in hockey, signing every free agent out there doesn’t work. I think they are going to rush Hedman, and so many players on that team are new. If their goaltending is good, they will score more than enough goals to contend for a playoff spot.
not that bad
they will be an average team…i actually think their goaltending will be much better this year
I’m sure most people know already, but here’s a confirmation of the deal courtesy of The St. Petersburgh Times..
