Blueshirt Banter Radio and a Contest!

Ok guys, as always tomorrow night Blueshirt Banter Radio will be on the radio at 7:30 PM. We'll take your calls, talk Ranger hockey, and we may even have some surprises along the way.

Also, you guys have done a great job in participating in the threads, and by putting up content, so as a way of showing my appreciation, I want to give something back.

As everyone knows, our tagline of "Covering the Rangers from Avery to Zherdev" has become obsolete, so right now we are running without one. I want to give you guys an opportunity to come up with our next one.

Post your entries in the thread, and tomorrow night during the show we will decide the winner.

First prize will be a brand new Rangers hat.

I will leave the comments open until tomorrow night before the show.

Good luck, and again, thanks to all of you that help us make this site a success. We couldn't do it without you.

You know when you made that tagline it should’ve been covering the rangers from “Antropov to Zherdev”

Could revert back to our fond 94 memories with “No More 1940” or “This One Will Last a Lifetime”. Or “Matteau! Matteau! Matteau!” Not creative enough to win, but it’s a simple route for those not tired of discussing that memory. :)

"Malik now." "6 foot 6, 238, not a noted goal scorer but he's gonna give it a shot here." "Malik has not scored this year. In on Kolzig, faked it....SCORES"

by Calm Down on Aug 4, 2009 10:50 PM EDT reply actions

— "A to Z" beats up "A to V" any day, any place, any time. Pretty badly too. If Zherdev leaves, you’ll have to change it completely.

Hey, if he leaves, have a community suggestion thread for the new tagline and have the members vote?

This is something to sleep on...

But here are a few off the top of my head.

“Hey, we still have Lundqvist!”
“We’ve got a brand new team every three years!”
and
“The new Florida…Where people come to retire.”

Hope tomorrow’s are better.

How are these? I am normally not bad at coming up with things like this

Blueshirt Banter: every game from September to June.

The Rangers might have good defensemen, prospects, forwards fans, fame, money, and goaltending, but at least the islander can make you laught. Blueshirt’s Banter, holding

Both Ranger players and Ranger fans may bleed blue, but after Brashear gets through beating the ever living shit out of everyone who tries to make them bleed we at Blueshirts Banter will watch these slugs, especially the asslanders, crawl along the ice like moving bags of dog shit.

Only just started listening to your broadcast heard from my father, age 18 not 12 normally just listen to the podcasts, but I salute you guys and the Mouth. In any event I’ll try to listen tommorrow.

Ok, Rangers bleed blue, it has to be just a few words, some of those bible verses you wrote won’t fit

easy on the profanity, once in a while its ok, for “flavor” as my Mother used to say.

And welcome to the Banter, we hope you will stick around, and join us tonight for the big show

You have options

New to the banter so what better way to get started than with a contest. So here’s my two cents.

Every likes the Liberty jerseys so how about something from Lady Liberty:

Give me your tired, your old,
Your huddled asses yearning to earn big,
The wretched refuse of your "teaming" shore.
Send these, the talentless, ready-to-retire to me,
I’ll leave my wallet beside the golden door!"

Something from the Movies maybe?

“Draft Picks, we don’t need no stinkin’ draft picks!”

…or something historical

“Four score and …” – what do you expect – we only have 4 defensement and Henrik was screened"

… or for the optimists

“Four score and …” – because now we have Gaborik"

… or how about something commercial

“The New York Rangers – providing the rest of the league young talent since 1926”

Blueshirt Banter

New to the site and love the coverage.

1) Covering the Rangers from AHL Hartford Coyotes to Zamboni riding rookies (somehow insert picture from the Bobby Granger commerical).

2) Stealing Mystery, Alaska’s prospect since 1999.

Btw, when BBR launched (Blueshirt Banter Radio), did you reach out to some season ticket holders?

by Section 426 on Aug 5, 2009 11:57 AM EDT reply actions

Section 426, welcome to the site, great to have you.

We have not reached out to season ticket holders, except those that frequent the site. Since we have no affiliation with the Rangers (yet), its not that easy to do.

I know there are other ways of reaching season ticket holders, such as posting on hf, outside the garden, and the Rangers message board, but I was trying to avoid what could be conceived as “spamming”

I keep hoping that our show is good enough that the word of mouth will spread. We’re getting between 200 and 300 listeners per week, which to me seems pretty good for off season. Of course there is always room for more, because the more listeners the more phone calls we take, which is what we’re all about, getting the information out to you guys, giving our take on topics, and hearing what you guys have to say. We’ll never pretend to know more about the Rangers than you guys, we just love giving you guys a place to talk Ranger hockey.

Blueshirt Banter:

“Don’t worry, next game we’ll score more than 2 goals”
“The place where two goals is enough”
“We are practically giving money away”
“1994 is so yesterday”
“The home of the King, the Pest, and the Fire”

These are just a couple.
