Banter Book Review: 100 Ranger Greats

via www.hawkinsandcompany.com

I can only imagine how daunting a task it would be to go through the history of a team that has been in existence for over 80 years and a compile a list of the best 100 players that they've ever had. With the Rangers storied history and long list of great players that have donned the sweater, it's easy to picture authors Russ Cohen, Adam Raider, and John Halligan climbing through the catacombs of Madison Square Garden, digging for Ranger treasures like Indiana Jones.

Believe me when I tell you, they found riches that would make old Indy proud. "100 Ranger Greats" is chock full of terrific pictures (some never before seen), interviews, and memories. I've long considered myself a student of the Rangers, and pretty knowledgeable on the history, but this book made me feel like a 3rd grader again. My Rangers education has a long way to go to catch up with these guys.

Using a combination of the treasures they found buried under the Garden, and numerous resources, including some from Halligan's personal collection from his days as the Rangers Director of Public Relations, they've compiled a list that will be enjoyed, analyzed, and occasionally debated by Ranger fans young and old. This book covers roughly five generations of Ranger players, and dinner table discussions between new Ranger fans and their elders over players are bound to be passionate, just like everything else with Ranger fans.

100 Ranger Greats is an absolute must have for Ranger fans. The book hits the stores on September 28th, but can be pre-ordered with online booksellers today.

Also, the authors are going to be doing quite a few appearances over the next couple of months, you can keep up with where they will be at their website, RangerGreats.com
