Rangers Pregame: Lines for tonight

I think Steve Zipay had these as well, but from Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants, here are the expected lines to start things off tonight:

I figured I would put this in a brand new thread, since it overshadowed poor Bobby Sanguinetti.

Offense

Christopher Higgins-Vinny Prospal-Marian Gaborik

Enver Lisin-Brandon Dubinsky-Ryan Callahan

Evgeny Grachev-Chris Drury-Ales Kotalik

Donald Brashear-Artem Anisimov-Aaron Voros

Defense

Alexei Semenov-Matt Gilroy

Wade Redden-Michal Rozsival

Michael Del Zotto-Dan Girardi

Goaltender:

Henrik Lundqvist (expected to play a full game)

Brashear-Anisimov-Voros? Is Torts going to tie a rope around Artems waist and have him drag Brash and Voros up and down the ice? I know Torts is all about ‘tough love’ but yikes…

Looks like

Lisin will be dropped in favor of Avery
and Semenov will be dropped for Stall.

Overall, these lines look great.

scratch that

Lisin will stay, Grachev will probably go and Avery will play that line.

Grachev to Hartford

Drop Lisin to Drury’s line, and put Avery with Dubi & Cally. You want a line with grit? there ya go.

Can we also read into this that Staal will play with Gilroy, MDZ with Girardi, R&R remain together? Of course Torts will change every thing up the moment they look flat anyway.

I would suggest not reading a whole lot of anything into everything.

He’s moving the parts around to get an idea of what will and what won’t work – and what has potential.

He wants to see how Arty is going to react to 4th line duty – and how he meshes with Brash/Voros.

Higgins/Prospal/Gaborik is a possibility for a regular line.

Yes, I know . . .

but until the season starts I have nothing else to do. So I endlessly ponder line combinations that Torts will change in a moments notice based on who is going at the moment. How sad for me.

In case it wasn’t clear – I wasn’t criticizing you (or anyone else). I’ve been doing a lot of the same thing.

I simply was giving my read on what he’s doing with tonights lineup.

So, if you’re sad – I must be right there with you.

The Rangers have announced that Matt Gilroy has been selected as winner of the 2009 Lars-Erik Sjoberg Award.
