Let's put on that funny Nostradamus hat, and make some predictions

Photo

Ok, seems to be a slow news day for the Rangers, at least at the moment. I wanted to do this all along, and today seemed like a good a day as any.

I am going to post my three predictions for the Rangers this season. In the thread below, you guys can agree, disagree, and post your own three predictions for the Blueshirts in 2009-2010. At the end of the season, we'll dig this thread up and see who hit the nail on the head, and who missed the mark. For those of you that may disagree with someone's predictions, let's remember this is all in fun, and be civil about it.

And boys and girls, don't give me predictions like "Henrik Lundqvist will start in goal opening night", I want to see good solid prognosticating here. Go with your gut, and chime in below!

So here goes, Jim's look into the Ranger Crystal Ball:

1. Ryan Callahan will score 33 goals this year.

2. Matt Gilroy will win the Calder Trophy as the top rookie in the NHL.

3. Sean Avery will have the best year of his career, somewhere in the neighborhood of 55 points.

By Joe Fortunato: Well Jim had his say so I will throw my predictions here now :

1. The Rangers win the division.

2. Lundqvist has a GAA below 2.30.

3. Gaborik will score 50 goals.

Crazy? Perhaps. But I have been right before, do I need to cite the playoff predictions?

Predictions

I like your 3 Jim. Especially Callahan’s 33 goals.

Here are my 3 predictions:
1. Marian Gaborik will play 79 games and tally 51 goals and 48 assists.
2. Vinny Prospal will have his most productive season since the days of Torts in Tampa, posting 85 points.
3. The Rangers will have one of the top 3 penalty kills in the league, along with scoring the most shorthanded goals out of any team in the league.

3. 3 different Rangers will top 30 goals. (If you want more specific, I’ll guess Gaborik, Higgins, and Callahan)
4. Michael Rozsvial will be traded at the deadline.
5. No returning Ranger will have fewer points than last year. Including Henrik and Vally.

1. Anisimov will be centering 2nd line by first week of January
2. Drury & Kotalik will rekindle Sabres chemistry
3. Gilroy will be a Calder finalist

As for a fourth, Rangers will be in the Kovalchuk derby at the trade deadline (just pray Sather doesn’t do anything more stupid than he normally would)

2. Marion Gaborik will break all of Jaromir Jagrs New York Rangers Record.
3. Henrik Lundqvist will win the Vezina
4. Vaclav Prospal will really be the one to watch this year! He will be a point a game player with Gaborik.

Chris Pronger will put at least one Ranger on the IR
Blair Betts will have a huge year in Philly, playing over 12 minutes a game.
Gilroy will win be a finalist for ROY , but won’t win.
Redden will improve. Rozival will be booed every night.
Brashere will get suspended at least once.
Colton Orr will beat the piss out of Brashere at least twice.
Higgins, Duby, Callahan, and Avery will all score 20+ goals.
Gaborik will play in 65-70 games posting 45 goals, 40 assists
Lunqvist wins Vezina and Gold
Prospal will post 70 pts.
Sidney Crosby will have a record breaking year.

by JOhn L on Sep 26, 2009 6:55 PM EDT reply actions

My predictions

1. Marian gaborik will play in only 70 games but score 42 goals anyway.
2. Enver lisin will score 18 goals …. 9 of those on the pp
3. Ryan callahan will score 36 goals and tally 37 assists.
4. Micheal del zotto will be the power play qb that we have been searching for. He will record 16 pts on the pp.
5. Rangers make it to conference finals but fall short to pittsburgh.

by RangerFan5 on Sep 26, 2009 7:04 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

wade redden

nobody wants redden so we can’t trade him. so lets kill him so we don’t have to give him all that money and sign next year another big name palyer like gaborik

by crosbysucks on Sep 26, 2009 7:12 PM EDT reply actions

Okay, mine:

1. Hank finally gets his Vezina.
2. Gaborik only plays 68 games but still nets 42 goals
3. Rozy goes back to being a 10+ goal defenseman.
4. Gilroy has a high point per game but a low +/- which causes Torts to play him less.
5. Semenov is a disappointment, MDZ gets sent back to Juniors, Sangs gets called up and proves he belongs.
6. Oh, and Dubs nets 25.

by Lunkwill Fook on Sep 26, 2009 7:30 PM EDT reply actions

1. Henrik Lundqvist will win 30+ games
2. Brandon Dubinsky will have an increase in points
3. The Rangers will not win the division, but they will definitely finish ahead of the Islanders

Be fair

Hank winning 30 is going to be tough this year if he only plays 55 games or so b/c of the olympics.

Yes...but

Hank won 30 games every year he’s been in the league. I doubt he’ll be satisfied with anything less than that. Expect him to put up around 36 wins.

by CTRangersFan on Sep 26, 2009 10:26 PM EDT up reply actions

He barely hit 30 playing 53 games in 05-06.

If Hank goes 36-19…Rangers will win the conference, let alone the division.

Why not dream big, plus I think its time that Hank step up to the next level and win a Vezina.

Nigel Dawes will net 20 for a 38 pt season in Calgary

by inHANKweTruST on Sep 26, 2009 9:33 PM EDT reply actions

NYR finish 4th overall- the NJD miss the PO-Gaborik finishes with 38G and the NYR have 8 players with 20+ goals-Gaborik Higgins Prospal Callahan Kotalik Drury Dubi and Avery. Rozi is traded at the end of the season. We get bounced out of the PO at the Conference finals.

by Rick 4 NYR on Sep 26, 2009 10:27 PM EDT reply actions

Rangers finish 5th, and play the 4th place Penguins in the first round. The East will be seeded like this 1. Capitals 2. Bruins 3. Flyers 4. Penguins 5. Rangers 6. Canes 7. Canadiens 8. Devils.
The Rangers PK will fall to 11th, but their PP will rise to 10th.
Wade Redden will have a comeback season, everyone will still hate him.
Glen Sather will trade Brian Boyle and a 4th round pick back to the Kings in exchange for his own third rounder back.
Michal Roszival will become public enemy #1.

I’m gonna think of more later..

by KingHenrik on Sep 26, 2009 11:30 PM EDT reply actions

Here goes

1. Gilroy is a finalist for rookie of the year and the calder only to lose both, #s look like 21 goals and 33 assists.

2. Trade deadline: Rangers trade away Roszival, a second round pick in next years draft and (much to our dismay) Grachev ugh… for Kovalchuk.

3. Rangers move Anisimov down, dont know why but yea.

4. Gaborik wins the Hart trophy, netting 61 goals and 57 assists, scoring 7 hat tricks, and playing 78 games.

5. Rangers place 2nd in the conference, behind Washington, beating the Devils, Pittsburgh, Flyers and the Sharks to the cup.
