looking forward to an afternoon of sports before “lethal lockdown” haha.

try channelsurfing.net, justin.tv, or atdhe.net
any one of those should have the game. Keep in mind they won’t start the feed until seconds before the game starts, so don’t panic if you can’t find it right away.
FYI, this goes for everyone, myself included. When the regular season starts, we can’t talk about these live feeds on the open threads, During the preseason I don’t mind, because it isn’t like you can pay to see the games. SBNation frowns upon us talking about them though, so once it gets going for real, we won’t be able to discuss it in the open threads. What information you guys transmit to other readers via email I have no control over, however, so take that as you will.

i always thought that was the policy which is why i was surprised to see you talk so freely about it during the threads. i guess as you are saying it was just because it was preseason.
by Michael Gleich on Sep 27, 2009 11:54 AM EDT up reply actions
Exactly. To me, preseason is ok because I am not taking money out of anyone’s pockets. There are no preseason games on Center Ice, and NHL Network shows one a week.

Anisimov needs to have an excellent game today while he is away from Voros and Brashear to prove that he needs to play with more skilled players on the 3rd line once the season starts.

Let me ask you guys a question:
Most of us have assumed the Rangers will carry 7 defensemen, although Torts has said he prefers just 6. If the Rangers cut down to 6, do they have the balls to banish one of the “R and R Boys” to Hartford for the year?

by Jim Schmiedeberg on Sep 27, 2009 11:57 AM EDT reply actions
No. my guess is he is thinking more along the lines of MDZ going to juniors and semenov or another vet D being the 6th.
by Michael Gleich on Sep 27, 2009 12:00 PM EDT up reply actions
and I think that would be a waste. I think they would essentially be throwing away a season of MDZ’s career just because they don’t want to admit mistakes

I think he might banish one of the R and R boys honestly
he has been very critical of their play all pre-season

If they do they then run the risk of, say someone getting injured, they then have to recall one of them and risk losing them on waivers…Redden is worth 3 million and Rozsival is worth more than 2.5 million
and dont forget we would owe the other half of that salary for the rest of the contract.
by Michael Gleich on Sep 27, 2009 12:03 PM EDT up reply actions
yeah but at this stage in the game if they were sent down
I doubt they come back up unless its a real emergency
Blueshirt Banter: Covering the New York Rangers the only NHL team with three home arenas.
by Joe Fortunato on Sep 27, 2009 12:05 PM EDT up reply actions
No way Roszy or Redden get sent to Hartford. Not based on preseason. Despite what Torts may have said about contracts and veteran status not mattering, they do. And vets always get the benefit of the doubt in camp/preseason.

Del Zotto lokks pretty good against Ovechkin
i gotta say
Blueshirt Banter: Covering the New York Rangers the only NHL team with three home arenas.
and paired with girardi is an even better sign.
by Michael Gleich on Sep 27, 2009 12:19 PM EDT up reply actions
and in all honesty other than one game redden has looking decent other than being with rozi.

That was ugly for awhile
Blueshirt Banter: Covering the New York Rangers the only NHL team with three home arenas.
that right there will make this power play more dangerous if del zotto is willing to shoot and hits the net.

Smart play by Grachev
Blueshirt Banter: Covering the New York Rangers the only NHL team with three home arenas.
hadnt been playing well to that point, so maybe it gets him going.
by Michael Gleich on Sep 27, 2009 12:29 PM EDT up reply actions
WOW
lots of things can change.. prospal can be center or wing.. if hes center it means boyle and anisimov fightting for spots with lisin getting a wing spot on the third line.. and i would guess grachev playing till avery is healthy..
if hes wing (which i would prefer.. LW ont he first line) than anisimov and boyle both make the team and lisin is the extra guy..
thats a lot of decisions to make.. and important ones.. what do u think will happen..
LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
i still think grachev goes down either way with voros more likely to take a spot unless it is really long term.
by Michael Gleich on Sep 27, 2009 12:35 PM EDT up reply actions
they looked good the first few minutes, but sluggish since.
by Michael Gleich on Sep 27, 2009 12:37 PM EDT up reply actions
how easily he beat semenov makes what mdz has done look even better.
by Michael Gleich on Sep 27, 2009 12:33 PM EDT reply actions
hes looked great so far defensivley
which some people think was why Del Zotto shouldnt be in the NHL

Lundy was screened pretty bad on that one
rough first period for the boys in blu—erm white
Blueshirt Banter: Covering the New York Rangers the only NHL team with three home arenas.
Neither Anisimov nor Boyle are making much of a statement so far in this game. Lisin looks the best of the bubble boys.
i dont think lisin is a bubble boy at all. grachev is going down the question is if boyle is going with him.
by Michael Gleich on Sep 27, 2009 12:44 PM EDT up reply actions
if Boyle goes, then Prospal moves to center, and Voros gets the wing spot?
"Jaromir Jagr.... it's a POWER PLAY GOAL!"
- Sam Rosen
lisin would go 3rd line wing, voros 4th
by Michael Gleich on Sep 27, 2009 12:50 PM EDT up reply actions
lol yeah i’ll remember that. plus I thjink that sangs and rozi and maybe some young forward will get traded to phoenix by the deadline
i still dont see the point in that for del zotto’s development how keeping him here to dump him in 2-3 weeks helps him. send him back now or keep him for the year and let him go through the growing pains that come with it.
by Michael Gleich on Sep 27, 2009 12:51 PM EDT up reply actions

or be traded by 22…..

I’m not waiting 6 years. He’s 19. If it takes that long, why all the hype?
"Jaromir Jagr.... it's a POWER PLAY GOAL!"
- Sam Rosen
he didnt say it would take til he is 25, but look at Staal, he is 22 now and very good but when he is 24 he will be even better and a monster.
by Michael Gleich on Sep 27, 2009 12:57 PM EDT up reply actions
“by the time he’s 25”.
Plus Staal was 20-21 when he began his Rangers career. I don’t care about 3-4 years. But 6 seems to be too long for all this hype right now… is all I’m saying.
"Jaromir Jagr.... it's a POWER PLAY GOAL!"
- Sam Rosen
i dont seem him as a number 1 d-man anyway. i think he can become a very good number 2.
by Michael Gleich on Sep 27, 2009 1:02 PM EDT up reply actions
it bounced over his stick… unlucky, but you can’t blame him on that one.
plus everyone is just standing around in their own zone.

to say it bounced over his stick when it was flat on the ice defies physics.

I think someone forgot to set the Rangers’ alarms this morning. They haven’t even shown up at the rink yet.
It's game like this which is why Varlamov shows up on Calder candidate lists.
the Rangers put him there.

lets not get carried away it is clearly the worst game they have played in the preseason. in every other game they have been right there sans the awful 3rd vs det in det.

redden and prospal have been solid.
Yeah I will say that Redden has not looked horrible

Prospal – Dubi – Gabby
Avery – Drury – Kotalik
Higgins – Artem – Cally
2 and 3 are interchangeable as far as what number u call them for me
any takers?
hmm
yeah i like those lines a lot.
maybe swap avry and higgins. but yeah those sound good to me.
and a fourth line of brashear boyle voros. and have lisin be the extra guy and he can play some games too.
and than d.
staal-gilroy
girardi-MDZ
r and r.
altohugh redden is playing better
LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
i put higgins with artem because he seems to have more “playmaking” ability than drury

see now if the Rangers played like this in the first two periods, the game would be completely different. They might even be winning.

i see he made it but didnt see the kick. haha.
by Michael Gleich on Sep 27, 2009 2:21 PM EDT up reply actions
That 3rd period is why the Rangers will be a good team this year. If they were to have a great period in the last game, I’m glad it was the third. Better play shit in the beginning and great at the end instead of play great at the beginning at shit at the end.
"Jaromir Jagr.... it's a POWER PLAY GOAL!"
- Sam Rosen
Did Torts Get the Memo
Rozival is terrible, he gave that game away, regardless of his cap space, by continuing to play him it voids the hard work of the entire team. Redden while looking better in Pre-season is one second from choking. These two will be the reason the wheel falls off, if Rangers do not get there heads out of the sand.
Anisimov Should be put on a line higer than 4, and stay.
Boyle should be sent down
Undecided on Grachev
Please get Gilroy back in the game so we have an exciting season
Del Zotto should stay period!
Drury needs to step up and score some goals
Seminov is not cutting it for me either
Even with great defense from Gilroy and Del Zotto, if Torts does not address the R&R issue we will not advance this season. I know this has not been the first time you have all heard this but maybe if we type it over and over again Torts will do somethign about it!
