One summer of (mostly) good moves and showing restraint followed by burying a massive mistake in the AHL hardly makes for a tale of redemption for Sather. Dealing away Brashear and burying Redden were both exercises in trying to cover-up and amend previous gross errors. Interesting article though, thought I’d share it with you guys (though I recall a few of the hardcore people here saying they hate The Hockey News).

Which is, or course, what 90% of GM’ing is all about. Every team faces this problem. Only one team wins a cup a year. Every team is facing the cap situation. Chicago might not win another cup for fifty years.

Sather is not doing a bad job. If he wins us one cup before he’s gone, he’ll be a hero.
