i hope not; signing souray right now after finally getting rid of redden would be like taking a shower and then jumping in a mud puddle

veteran allure
I said it yesterday and I’ll say it again today. The allure of what veterans are capable of is touch much for this team to pass up. McDonagh did not impress me as much as he did others but keeping Eminger over him is a joke. Eminger makes Jason Strudwick look like Scott Stevens.
Not surprised
McDonough did not earn the spot.
Everybody was rooting for him, myself included, but he did not have a better camp than any of the other guys and given the waivers situation it’s a sensible move. It hurts neither McD or the team to send him down to Hartford. His decision to turn pro is still good because there’s a big difference between playing in Hartford and playing back at school.
Definitely expect a trade though, and expect to see more of McDonough before this season is done.
Oh, and Jim, they’re not “afraid of losing Steve Eminger.”
Exactly as I said yesterday – rather than risk losing Eminger and Sauer on waivers (the former a possibility, the latter almost certainly) they would keep them, send McDonagh and Valentenko down. A month or two in Hartford and those two guys are ready if there’s an injury and they need to be called up.
Whether there’s a move now or down the road, it also leaves open the possibility of a trade – which isn’t a bad thing at all. As long as it’s not Souray……….
