Scoring Chances for Game 10 vs Toronto

For the second straight night, the New York Rangers allowed more than 20 scoring chances against.  They allowed 22 chances to the Toronto Maple Leafs, including a season high 19 chances at even strength.  The team came out lethargically in the first period, allowing the first four chances, while not mustering their own until nine and a half minutes in.  Thanks to the efforts of Brian Boyle and Henrik Lundqvist, however, the team still jumped out to a 1-0 lead that they would never relinquish.

Top Individual Performers:  Rangers - Artem Anisimov (4)   Leafs - Luca Caputi (4)

Top ES Forwards: Evgeny Grachev +3, Ryan Callahan +2

Bottom ES Forwards:  Brandon Dubinsky -5, Brian Boyle -4

Top Defensemen - Matt Gilroy +3

Bottom Defensemen - Michal Rozsival -6

Star-divide

One note, for some reason the script shows all players on the ice for Callahan's penalty shot.  I manually adjusted the tables to reflect that it was, in fact, a one on one situation against Jean-Sebastien Giguere.  Also for time constraints, no head to head tables this time around.

I think all the players on the ice ...

get either the (+) or (-) if a goal is scored when the penalty shot is awarded. I have to check this; couldn’t find it in the rulebook

I looked

In the play by play, only 24 and 35 are listed, and only Callahan received a + for that goal.

Thanks a lot for covering this game George

I missed the game as I was gone all weekend, my apologies. I know, from comparing our results over the first two games, that we were coming up with about as similar results as you’re like to get between two Scoring Chance trackers.
For the penalty shot, though, I would’ve left in all the players that were on when the infraction occured that caused the PS. My view of it is that the players on the ice should get tagged/credited for the penalty shot (an awarded scoring chance).

You should also double-check the jersey numbers listed for your scoring chances that resulted in goals to make sure the SC script gets the right players that were on. The next faceoff after the goal will be listed at the same time as the goal and sometimes the script will show the players on the ice for the faceoff instead of for the goal. At least that is what I noticed last year on a couple of ocassions so now I list the goals as coming a second before it was actually scored just to be sure it picks up the right players. I can not say that I have ever noticed any of those errors in your tables but I just thought I should bring that to your attention.

Anyway, keep up the great work George, thanks for covering the Rangers this year.

(For those who don’t know, I usually track scoring chances for Toronto Maple Leafs games and post the results at my blog).

“similar results as you’re likely to get…”,

to correct a typo in that post.

Appreciate the feedback, I caught the goals difference with one of the goals against Colorado, you’re right though, I should double check all of the goals, which is easy enough to do.
