I met the guy who writes for the Islanders main website
and there are deals out there where you can get season tickets for 40 bucks a seat for the year. Not 40 bucks a game, 40 bucks a year.

The thing is, that only marginally helps their team since don’t the Islanders get a big fat 0% of parking and concessions from NVMC? Just getting fans into the barn isn’t going to help with their bottom line.

will this guy be throwing his tickets in the river in 4 or 5 years when they could be good? fair-weather fans really piss me off
speaking of which, notice how theres alot less jet fans now then there was 2 days ago? now i know there are real jet fans out there that have been there through all the heartache but there are also plenty of people who have recently claimed to be diehard jet fans but they dont know who chad pennington is.
its the fair-weathered fans that are the most obnoxious when their team actually wins too
I’m more of a Glenn Foley fan myself.

listen bud nobody gives a sh*t that you threw
your thrashers-islanders tickets in the river. big deal. want to make a statement? make a bond-fire with the rest of your season tickets for the year.
wow, you didn’t want to see the thrashers play the islanders, guess what? nobody wants to see that game.
i would bet that he was in attendance for the rangers-islanders game.
what a clown.
"We play them a few more times this year"
- Brian Boyle
i would have taken those tickets
I would have given him $10 for the set to see Alex Burmistrov, Niclas Bergfros, Evander Kane, Dustin Byfugelin, Andrew Ladd, and Ondrej Pavelec kick ass.
I can understand why he would get pissed with the Islanders so far this season, but he could of gave them to somebody else instead of wasting them.
Giving tickets away doesn’t work well as a radio stunt.

Whats that got to do with anything? He doesn’t have to give them away as a stunt on air, he could of given them to actual hockey fans who stick by there team when the chips are down instead of throwing a fit over 18 games. Yeah a bad 18 games but still its pathetic and another Islanders fan showing his true colours. ;0)

He’s a radio host…he posted a youtube video of doing something ‘shocking’ and then advertises his website at the end. Nobody is running to watch a youtube clip of him giving tickets away.
It’s a ploy to get people to watch his video and then check the link to his site. Yes, he could give them away, but it doesn’t serve the purpose of trying to create traffic for his show and site.
Yeah, he could’ve just quietly gotten rid of them, but he saw an opportunity to advertise, and he took it.

The Thrashers can’t even get people outside of Atlanta to watch them play.

if u pollute the hudson river...
u will get ur ass kicked
it is not a money thing, it is a statement.
the money meas nothing to him, it is opie from the opie and anthony show. he makes a very good living and that means very little to him.
however, what he is doing is sending a messgae to a very large folling, one that is much larger than any of us could reach. he was a very large twitter and youtube following that allows this video to be seen by the masses. he also bradcasts daily to over a million listeners.
this is a message that things need to change. and with his pull, his following who knows what could happen.
keep in mind i am biased as i am an o and a fan though.
Opie
Opie is a real Islander fan, he grew up on long island and has had season tickets since he could afford them. That being said, $100 to him is like $1 or $5 to me so the money is not the issue, it’s the statement of “I’d rather throw these in the river then waste 3 hours of my valuable time for a franchise that clearly doesn’t care about it’s fan base” I applaud this man b/c he’s able to move on with his life unlike myself who goes to every Nets/Jets/Ranger games i can afford like a true dummy, thinking ill get the big payoff someday
Were they saying "Boo" or "Boo-urns?"
if i'd had ranger tickets from 2001-2004 i would've done the same thing
instead i waited until 2005 and bought a mini plan which i had for a couple of years before time issues forced me to give ’em up
i did wear a paper bag on my head to a bunch of games in 2002, 2003 and 2004
