Rangers News, Notes, and Thoughts

"Hey Marc, they love us on Blueshirt Banter!"

I don't know about you guys, but I see this as a pretty important game for the Rangers tonight. With a decent Columbus team and the Caps waiting in the wings, its not hard to envision a loss tonight turning into a four game losing streak and sending half the fanbase back into the utter panic they've been in and out of all year.

I've heard both the coach and players both say that the heavy November schedule prevented them from solid practicing, and that the days off after Sunday night's game has enabled that. So that obviously means Rangers 6-1 over the Sens tonight right? Seriously though, coach and team need to back that up tonight with a strong performance.

I know many fans were saying that its been hard to sit on Sunday night's loss for four days waiting for another game, and they wished the Rangers had come right back and played Monday, but I think the Rangers were just drained Sunday night, and everybody needs a break from work, even if its playing hockey. As a fan, sometimes I need a break too.

Larry Brooks says the Rangers "are at a crossroads", but aren't they always with Larry?

Brooksie also has the latest on Vinny Prospal:

Vinny Prospal, out all year with a right knee injury for which he underwent surgery on Oct. 4, skated before practice in full equipment for the first time.

"So far so good," No. 20 told The Post. "But [trainer Jim Ramsay] said that how I feel in 24 hours is key."

Chris Drury (broken left index finger) again skated with the Rangers during their optional morning skate and will have his finger re-examined and X-rayed on Sunday. The captain doesn’t want to say for sure what the doctors might say if everything looks clean but he’s hoping to be cleared for contact drills. If that does happen, Drury said his conditioning is already essentially at game-ready status so, he’s hoping, that could mean getting back into the lineup next week. Perhaps. If all goes well.
Artem Anisimov, Brandon Dubinsky, and Ryan Callahan are expected to be reunited (.....and it feels so good, sorry couldn't resist) tonight. Explain to me again why they were broken up?

Also, as Gaborik104LIFE had in his Fan Post, Zots is sitting this one out. Long overdue if you ask me. Nothing against MDZ, but I think a game or two watching from above might help.

From the day I started this site, it has never ceased to amaze me which stories we put up garner attention, and which ones don't. That stupid little song parody that I wrote about Frolov the other day was re-tweeted by more people than just about anything I've ever posted here. Hell, I heard they even liked in on the HF Boards. Seriously, I think "Mary Had a Little Lamb" took longer to write than "Time to Go Alex Fro", but whatever, as long as people are reading, its all good. Maybe a follow up song is in order, how about "The 12 Line Combos of Christmas" or maybe "I saw Crosby Kiss The Referee"? Well, we'll see about those.

See you all tonight in the game thread, and Let's Go Rangers!

Kovalev, one of those guys who has such mesmerizing talent but just doesn’t seem motivated all the time. Shame his career is ending in such a lackluster and depressing way.

No MDZ tonight, probably means we’ll see more of Stepan on the powerplay point, which I am very curious about. He has such great vision with the puck and isn’t afraid to throw one at the net every now and then (though I don’t expect much bombs from the blueline).

I think it is good to have a bit of a break as a fan, but to me that ‘bit of a break’ is good at two days without a game, maybe three. This was too long for me and my ADD generation. ;)

Got a good feeling about step tonight. He said he loves playing with gabby, I’m hoping for big things from them tn. I think fed is joining them too, should be interesting.

I listen to Enter Sandman before taking exams. I wear the exact same jersey every Giants game. The Rangers goal song goes off in my head when I achieve small successes in life.

New to site...

Found this gem of a sight a few months back. Just joined and looking for the inside scoop on whats what around these parts…any words of advice are appreciated

Click here: This should really help you out.

What I really suggest is to be here for a game thread (open message board while the game is on) to talk with other fans, it can be a great experience. You get to celebrate with kindred spirits or sink into a beautiful depression with them.

Everyone here contributes and shares insight and tidbits they have found. I like to think of this place as the center of a spider’s web. If something happens in the Rangers Universe, we hear about it and share it with one another.

Hope you enjoy the place, happy to have you here.

a couple pieces of advice

1) dont make a comment or fanpost concerning the fact that a certain swedish king is unclutch and is a choke artist

2) As seen in sunday’s game thread dont make a comment about trading away callahan or dubinsky for a washed up russian hand towel just because u wanna relive the glory days of 94

3) have fun

If you’re watching via NHL Gamecenter’s Internet feed, don’t go in the game thread unless you want to know what happens ahead of time. There is a serious delay.

by NTB on Dec 9, 2010 5:50 PM EST up reply actions

i can definitely attest to that lmao

songs

I think that ( I saw “Cosby kissing the Referee”) is funny as hell. But the weasel kisses butt all the time on ice doesn’t he?

by stillmets on Dec 9, 2010 5:29 PM EST reply actions

I’m sure he does off-ice too

I saw that earlier and was terrified. December is going to be rough going until the last two games (Islanders and Devils). The team is going to have to really battle for points.

Prosp and Drury

Other than the obvious “Fro must go” sentiment, who is going to be losing ice time when these two return.. Tort has already stated it won’t be the kids. Whatever that means…

by jdudge on Dec 10, 2010 9:51 AM EST reply actions

Drury = Todd White (with Boog out of the lineup)
Prospal = Christensen

That’s the most likely scenario.

Christensen!!

I’m I the only person who thinks Christensen is under appreciated?? He’s only going to get better.. Then again.. I also think Staal is over rated.

I happen to like EC more than others, but he is going to lose the numbers game b/c of his consistency (or lack thereof)
