why didnt the swiss call up nino to play?

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 2:35 PM EST reply actions

I think he is only 17, he may be better than some of the guys on there team but still probably to overwhelming of a task for a guy who plays JR hockey.

by coleko on Feb 16, 2010 2:44 PM EST reply actions

is anyone really expecting a medal from this US team?

im predicting a 4th or 5th place finish behind Russia (gold) Canada (silver) and Sweden (bronze)

by Kevin Power on Feb 16, 2010 2:52 PM EST reply actions

talent wise that is where they should end up.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 2:57 PM EST up reply actions

I'm expecting a Bronze

Honestly. I think the US finally has solid goaltending and does not have to count on John Grahame or Rick DiPietro.

It is going to

be very hard for me to root for Parise. I know he is playing for the Red White and Blue but I just dont like him.

by BroadwayBlue30 on Feb 16, 2010 2:54 PM EST reply actions

Its not likely we will win....

But its possible. And it more fun rooting for an underdog anyway.

by coleko on Feb 16, 2010 2:57 PM EST reply actions

Is anyone else just seeing Law and Order on USA Network? Am I on the right channel?

by KingHenrik on Feb 16, 2010 3:01 PM EST reply actions

i see commercials but hockey was on before it, so i guess ur on the wrong channel.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:02 PM EST up reply actions

i love how in one breath they say the US has a shot to win the gold and in the next they could lose to the swiss.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:02 PM EST reply actions

hey, this is what puck possession looks like.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:07 PM EST reply actions

dru seems like the extra forward, havent seen him on the ice yet.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:14 PM EST reply actions

drury out instead of cally on that shift.

in the nhl that hit on ryan is boarding.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:17 PM EST reply actions

let’s how the USA pp is better than ours, lol.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:19 PM EST reply actions

too many devils for my liking, langenbruner, parise and the old one in rafalski.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:20 PM EST reply actions

Hey Guys.....

where is this game being played? Doesn’t look like an Olympic size ice – more like NHL

by 2mn8tr on Feb 16, 2010 3:24 PM EST reply actions

i think it’s the canuck’s place.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:25 PM EST up reply actions

Cally with the hits baby

by louielounz1 on Feb 16, 2010 3:24 PM EST reply actions

Vancouver and it is NHL ice

by louielounz1 on Feb 16, 2010 3:24 PM EST reply actions

…always liked the game on the larger ice surface. Really gives these guys room to skate. Too bad. More hits on NHL ice though

"pain heals, chicks dig scars, Glory, lasts forever" - Shane Falco

by 2mn8tr on Feb 16, 2010 3:26 PM EST up reply actions

just like cally before, all rangers do it.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:28 PM EST up reply actions

way to be a ranger drury…:(

by louielounz1 on Feb 16, 2010 3:28 PM EST reply actions

parise-stasny-kane has been the only good offensive line.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:28 PM EST reply actions

he shouldnt be on that line, kessel would be better there and let lang play with pavelski and malone

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:30 PM EST up reply actions

I think Cally gets one this game

by louielounz1 on Feb 16, 2010 3:30 PM EST reply actions

Like the sound of that

by christopherm on Feb 16, 2010 3:30 PM EST up reply actions

Kessels line is the worst so far

by louielounz1 on Feb 16, 2010 3:31 PM EST reply actions

drury hitting more in this game than he has all damn year.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:31 PM EST reply actions

think Bobby Ryan would look good as a blueshirt, RFA.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:32 PM EST reply actions

New Jersey boy. So he would handle the city fine

by christopherm on Feb 16, 2010 3:33 PM EST up reply actions

He was on a line with Drury.. something to ponder hmm

by louielounz1 on Feb 16, 2010 3:34 PM EST up reply actions

that was drury replacing cally on that shift…it has been ryan and 2 of cally, dru and backes this period.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:35 PM EST up reply actions

Drury +1 can we ask for more

by louielounz1 on Feb 16, 2010 3:33 PM EST reply actions

BOBBY RYAN IS PROOF POSITIVE WHY WE NEED A HIGH DRAFT PICK!!!!

Those are the types of players teams never trade, you either draft them or watch and weep. Score sheets don’t do players like that justice. He gets railed from behind comes out the next shift and bull dozes everyone, waking up the american team. Then what does he do next shift? Scores a goal. Total Stud!!!!!

by coleko on Feb 16, 2010 3:39 PM EST reply actions

It’s entirely possible Ryan gets traded this offseason, making this post very ironic.

by KingHenrik on Feb 16, 2010 3:45 PM EST up reply actions

only in a kessel type trade.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:46 PM EST up reply actions

O really? Well let me know when that happens. Just like Kovalchuk was going to be traded for 2 young roster players, 2 top prospects and a first rounder. :)

by coleko on Feb 16, 2010 4:13 PM EST up reply actions

difference is Ryan is an RFA so if you give him a 5 mil contract the cost is a 1st, 2nd, 3rd.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:15 PM EST up reply actions

Which would be well worth it, but Ducks arent letting him go.

by coleko on Feb 16, 2010 4:48 PM EST up reply actions

Is the Jagr vs. Gaborik game on TV tomorrow night? thats by far the best game of the first two days

by nyrangerfan521 on Feb 16, 2010 3:40 PM EST reply actions

it will be, but no gabby so tough to be jagr vs gaborik.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:40 PM EST up reply actions

ah hes still out. thats a shame, woulda been nice to see those 2 on the ice at the same time

by nyrangerfan521 on Feb 16, 2010 3:41 PM EST up reply actions

seriously even during a US game we have to watch a cindy interview

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:42 PM EST reply actions

and we are on USA netowrk, lol.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:43 PM EST up reply actions

True HaHa

What a joke…Well if it makes a case the Versus guys took over the network

by louielounz1 on Feb 16, 2010 3:44 PM EST up reply actions

just when u didnt think it couldnt get worse u get VS + milbury.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:45 PM EST up reply actions

i would hope so it is in canada, let them watch the interview in the arena then.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:45 PM EST up reply actions

Roenik & Milbury & McGuire

Aren’t we lucky !( sarcastic laugh)

by Nyrfan23 on Feb 16, 2010 3:46 PM EST reply actions

ha, he was doing the canadian women’s game yesterday.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:48 PM EST up reply actions

and not even calling it, i think i saw him do an interview like giannone.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:49 PM EST up reply actions

What a joke…Damn show Joe some love he’s better than these guys

by louielounz1 on Feb 16, 2010 3:49 PM EST up reply actions

they said he was working the Olympics during Saturdays game but I have yet to see him … Thank god

by Nyrfan23 on Feb 16, 2010 3:49 PM EST up reply actions

I’d Like to see Rosen but he’s not doing any of these.

by louielounz1 on Feb 16, 2010 3:50 PM EST up reply actions

i want to see joe stay in canada and let maloney take his job.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:50 PM EST up reply actions

Maloney – The new Phil Rizzuto

by christopherm on Feb 16, 2010 3:51 PM EST up reply actions

eh idk if that would be good for the nhl. sometimes they beat the defensive team to the puck and watever will cause less whistles is good for the game

by nyrangerfan521 on Feb 16, 2010 3:52 PM EST up reply actions

i cant believe parise-stasny-kane is still together…i mean is torts going soft, they didnt score for a whole period.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:52 PM EST reply actions

he is only the assistant LOL

by Nyrfan23 on Feb 16, 2010 3:55 PM EST up reply actions

He keeps tucking on Wilson’s arm with new lines but Ron ain’t listening.

by christopherm on Feb 16, 2010 3:56 PM EST up reply actions

does pierre have a contractural requirement to bring up Red Deer in every game he is on?

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:54 PM EST reply actions

wish we could adopt

Imagine if we could adopt the Staal bros for USA hockey LOL

by Nyrfan23 on Feb 16, 2010 3:57 PM EST reply actions

what a rush by backes.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 3:57 PM EST reply actions

Miller

Miller will be the only reason we will get past Canada and Russia

by Nyrfan23 on Feb 16, 2010 4:00 PM EST reply actions

I really dont like these icing rules

by louielounz1 on Feb 16, 2010 4:01 PM EST reply actions

hiller should have covered that.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:03 PM EST reply actions

the Backes goal unnerved him. He is backing up in the net now.

by christopherm on Feb 16, 2010 4:04 PM EST up reply actions

Drury

I think he should be in the blue line on the PP

by Nyrfan23 on Feb 16, 2010 4:04 PM EST reply actions

torts is confused 30 min and no penalties by his team.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:05 PM EST up reply actions

what kills ? Swiss doesn’t play aggressive enough to draw any LOL

by Nyrfan23 on Feb 16, 2010 4:08 PM EST up reply actions

We cant do that against Canada

by louielounz1 on Feb 16, 2010 4:07 PM EST reply actions

we would be down 3 or 4-0 against canada playing like this.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:07 PM EST up reply actions

I think it would be something like that too, I really think the lines of Backes needs to play the same way and too bad we cant give Kessel back and get Gomez or something

by louielounz1 on Feb 16, 2010 4:09 PM EST up reply actions

the backes-ryan-cally/dru line and the parise-stasny-kane line’s have been good the others havent done much.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:10 PM EST up reply actions

emerik is having an orgasm seeing raflaski parise and langdenbrunner on the pp

by Dougee on Feb 16, 2010 4:11 PM EST reply actions

might as well ask…say somehow the rangers find some cap space this summer…would you give up the kessel package to get Bobby Ryan?

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:13 PM EST reply actions

how many more years would they have him? Is this his second in the nhl?

by lund123 on Feb 16, 2010 4:16 PM EST up reply actions

u mean the rangers? well kessel got 5 yrs 27 mil.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:17 PM EST up reply actions

nah i just didnt realize if he was a RFA or not after this year. Signing him as a RFA would probably end up costing the rangers more so i guess it would have to be a sign and trade. Im a big fan of bobby ryan but im not sure thats what the rangers need

by lund123 on Feb 16, 2010 4:19 PM EST up reply actions

and by what they need… i mean a 5 million dollar player that costs us 2 first and a second

by lund123 on Feb 16, 2010 4:20 PM EST up reply actions

well actual compensation if it is a sign and they refuse is a 1, 2, 3.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:21 PM EST up reply actions

i see what ur saying, but i think the ducks would slightly raise the salary for 2 firsts, 2nd, and third. I think thats like a little over 5.2 a year for that salary

by lund123 on Feb 16, 2010 4:22 PM EST up reply actions

kessel’s average hit is 5.4 which would put him in the double first category

by lund123 on Feb 16, 2010 4:24 PM EST up reply actions

not sure what it’d take to get him but if we had the opportunity, it would definitely be worth thinking about in my opinion

by sinzero on Feb 16, 2010 4:20 PM EST up reply actions

that’s the phil kessel i know a spinning shot from the point without even looking.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:13 PM EST reply actions

nice save by miller

Do you believe in miracles?!!?!?!?!?
Al Michaels

by #30TheKingofNY on Feb 16, 2010 4:20 PM EST reply actions

Hiller has no help

Swiss must’ve been watching to many hank/rangers video LOL

by Nyrfan23 on Feb 16, 2010 4:21 PM EST reply actions

did anyone see dru or cally that period

they were invisible, not that we arent used to that

Do you believe in miracles?!!?!?!?!?
Al Michaels

by #30TheKingofNY on Feb 16, 2010 4:22 PM EST reply actions

i repeat where i started before the game, why didnt the swiss call up nino…he might be over his head but at least he would be a threat to score and learn some things.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:22 PM EST reply actions

the irony of this all is, 2 of the 3 coaches on the bench have 2 of the worst teams in the league

by Dougee on Feb 16, 2010 4:22 PM EST reply actions

i thought all three coaches had bad teams

Do you believe in miracles?!!?!?!?!?
Al Michaels

by #30TheKingofNY on Feb 16, 2010 4:24 PM EST reply actions

i think he is confused thinking the rangers with the 8th worst record arent one of the worst teams in the league. lol.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:26 PM EST up reply actions

most likely haha

Do you believe in miracles?!!?!?!?!?
Al Michaels

by #30TheKingofNY on Feb 16, 2010 4:27 PM EST up reply actions

actually i considered the islanders a little better than us

by Dougee on Feb 16, 2010 4:28 PM EST up reply actions

really? i consider them us and the islanders equals

Do you believe in miracles?!!?!?!?!?
Al Michaels

by #30TheKingofNY on Feb 16, 2010 4:28 PM EST up reply actions

*rangers and islanders

Do you believe in miracles?!!?!?!?!?
Al Michaels

by #30TheKingofNY on Feb 16, 2010 4:29 PM EST up reply actions

glen sather should coach

by Dougee on Feb 16, 2010 4:30 PM EST up reply actions

wow, JR just let Milbury brow beat him into caving for fatso.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:30 PM EST reply actions

i would go after backstrom first, but i would consider ryan depending on what else they did. if they sold the pieces like they should to collect extra picks this year then yes i go after an RFA and give up future picks if that makes sense.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:31 PM EST up reply actions

but thats the problem, no way we go into sell mode to get those picks that we could use after the season

by lund123 on Feb 16, 2010 4:33 PM EST up reply actions

then i probably wouldnt on ryan…i still would on backstrom.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:34 PM EST up reply actions

cause centers are more critical than wingers in the playoffs imo.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:35 PM EST up reply actions

yeah he is a beast. have a real sick first line with him

by lund123 on Feb 16, 2010 4:36 PM EST up reply actions

what are the odds we can get backstrom though?

by sinzero on Feb 16, 2010 4:38 PM EST up reply actions

probably zero as i cant see the caps letting him go.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:39 PM EST up reply actions

semin would probably be the guy they left walk in another year.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:39 PM EST up reply actions

and semin is dirty, but im not sure i can handle him on our team for what it will cost us

by lund123 on Feb 16, 2010 4:40 PM EST up reply actions

eventually they have to let someone walk away.. you cant give all your players bug contracts

by lund123 on Feb 16, 2010 4:41 PM EST up reply actions

there is thing, maybe u have heard of it, called the salary cap.

green 5 mil, ovie 9.3 mil, backstrom will get well over 6, semin would get over 6. at some point someone would have to go. not saying they should but cant keep everyone at huge deals.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:42 PM EST up reply actions

yehh eventually someone will have to go, I think I’d rather see us go for Ryan this year than Semin next year since Backstrom is pretty much a zero chance

by sinzero on Feb 16, 2010 4:43 PM EST up reply actions

here’s why i would disagree slightly…semin is a UFA so costs nothing but money.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:44 PM EST up reply actions

true, I guess I just have something against him (semin) since his slap-boxing/playing the drums on Staal’s side as he was laying on the ice. lol.

by sinzero on Feb 16, 2010 4:45 PM EST up reply actions

not saying i want him, but the cost is less.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:46 PM EST up reply actions

to me semin has all the signs of flopping on broadway

by lund123 on Feb 16, 2010 4:47 PM EST up reply actions

he performs pretty well there against us, lol.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:47 PM EST up reply actions

i just think the fans will get on him for his lack of defense and lack of team game. He does score goals, does dangle like hell, but i see the garden faithful getting annoyed

by lund123 on Feb 16, 2010 4:48 PM EST up reply actions

Based on the clamoring for Kovalchuk here…I don’t think the fans will mind much.

Camp Tortorella - Where Vomit is a Mainstay

by George E. Ays on Feb 16, 2010 4:49 PM EST up reply actions

yeah dont think u can put kovalchuck in the same sentence with Semin. It was like Jagr, we put up with him cause he was elite, Semin is not elite in my opinion

by lund123 on Feb 16, 2010 4:51 PM EST up reply actions

semin 30G 35A in 53 games this year

64G 80A in 115 games the last 2 seasons, that’s elite offensively.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:52 PM EST up reply actions

lol mleetch knows everything!

by sinzero on Feb 16, 2010 4:58 PM EST up reply actions

and overshadowed by ovechkin being the number 1 left winger

by John Mjr on Feb 16, 2010 5:25 PM EST up reply actions

this is a bit off the topic, but is Ryan Kesler is rfa/ufa after this year? would like to pull him over to the rangers somehow

by sinzero on Feb 16, 2010 4:48 PM EST up reply actions

he wants 5 mil. he is not worth that.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:49 PM EST up reply actions

and rfa to answer ur question.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:50 PM EST up reply actions

ahh yeh 5 mill is steep.

by sinzero on Feb 16, 2010 4:50 PM EST up reply actions

+1, he is to good with OV they would be nuts

by lund123 on Feb 16, 2010 4:40 PM EST up reply actions

thats what I was figuring, as I had already heard they were in contract talks with some big numbers, can’t really see banking on trying to get backstrom even though that would be amazing

by sinzero on Feb 16, 2010 4:40 PM EST up reply actions

Rangers are a marginal playoff team

but def are not contenders…………………SELL!

by giantsNYrangers on Feb 16, 2010 4:36 PM EST reply actions

agree .........but

Sather is the GM so that means he is gonna buy !

by Nyrfan23 on Feb 16, 2010 4:39 PM EST up reply actions

Well if we keep hovering around the 8th spot Sather will buy.

Strange to say but im hoping for some more miserable losing streaks

by giantsNYrangers on Feb 16, 2010 4:42 PM EST up reply actions

that’s the 2nd comment about olli keeping playing well and they keep hovering…there is 1 more day of games before the deadline so it is basically decided where teams and players are.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:43 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah really....what was I thinking

Deadline is the 3rd………….thanx Leetch….lol.

by giantsNYrangers on Feb 16, 2010 4:45 PM EST up reply actions

you could argue with the market that was set by cullen and moore that both prospal and olli could net us 1st or 2nd rounders as rentals.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 16, 2010 4:38 PM EST reply actions

Try to find a team that is a piece or two away and snag a 1st for Prospal

thats not ridiculous to think that. And if Ollie keeps up his good play, well then………..

by giantsNYrangers on Feb 16, 2010 4:40 PM EST up reply actions

by lund123 on Feb 16, 2010 4:43 PM EST up reply actions

i cant wait to hear joe micheletti call a game

by Dougee on Feb 16, 2010 4:41 PM EST reply actions

he will buy people who will get us to the playofss and give up draft picks and prospects for them
