Jagr????

Has anyone read the articles about Jagr at the Olympics??  It's refeshing to hear him talk and joke knowing how much he loves hockey.  Think about how it would have been great to still have him on the team?  Maybe he could have taken the heat of Redden and Rosival and they would be playing better right now?  Jagr always had a way to lighten up things, maybe it would have helped this team a little.  Plus he is a ligitimate superstar who would have been potten more then a few goals.  Maybe Redden would even have assisted on a few of those.  Not saying Jagr would have made Redden worth 6 million but maybe he would have been able to make the guy want to come to the rink.  Anyway like usual Sather and his cigar smoking ass let the guy go.  Does anyone know what they put in those cigars?  Maybe there making Sather stupid??? LOL

too expensive for a player at the later stage of his career. he had a final chance to push for the cup when he was at the garden and it didn’t work out…great guy though.

I think we all love Jagr

But I think most of us agree that he’s not worth the money he was asking for. It was nice watching him push us into and during the playoffs, but when a guy admits he was dogging it for half the season to stay fresh for the final stretch and playoffs, his time in the NHL is up.

I look forward to watching him in the Olympics though. He was always one of my favorite players to watch.

He'll be back

I thin he will be back next season and he’ll put up 50 points – no problem. Especially if he plays second line minutes.

Edmonton would be the favorite I think.

Will depend on how much money they free up and how much Jagr commands of course.

I think he said he’d come back and play for Mario’s team for the vet. min.

im not sure what jagr was asking for….but i believe if we resigned jagr for 6.5-7mill on a year-2yr contract…we wouldn’t have resigned redden….soooo i ask you who would you rather have jagr or redden?…i think jagr had 1-2 more good years left in him

by nutz_35 on Feb 17, 2010 1:06 PM EST reply actions

absolutely.

Jagr really turned it on in the final stretch and the playoffs that year if I remember correctly.

I think Jagr would be great for the right price, I mean 4mil maybe???

why would he go to edmonton who clearly will not contend for the cup until the 22 century? I don;t know what his khl numbers are but he should be a 25 goal guy on any team in the nhl

by earthworm on Feb 17, 2010 2:31 PM EST reply actions

Edmonton’s without their leading scorer (Hemsky) most of the year, without their #1 goaltender (Khabi) and will be adding either Seguin or Hall to their squad. Depending on what value they get for their trade pieces (Moreau, Cogliano, Souray, etc…), they could turn their team around in a hurry. Renney is also there, so there is some familiarity. And of course, plenty of rumors that he would end up there both before and after he went to the KHL.

Now, I’m not going to pretend they’ll be cup contenders, so if that’s his lone goal then no, he doesn’t go there. But the strongest NHL teams don’t have the cap room (Was, SJ, Chi, Pitt), so it would have to be a next tier team if he wants a chance.

 So maybe the Kings?

GOOD POINT!!

I always looked at the Oilers as having a pretty hopeless future but you have a serious point. Adding Hemsky, Khabi, Seguin/Hall, and whatever youth they get back in trades, they will be instant playoff contenders.

How did the oilers fare for the past few seasons in the playoffs with those guys? Oh thats right, they didn’t make it

by earthworm on Feb 18, 2010 11:30 AM EST up reply actions

Huh?

Khabi’s just signed this year and Hall/Seguin obviously arent’ there yet. So the only guy mentioned that’s been there the past few years is Hemsky, and he was on the Cup Finals team 4 years ago.

No, they haven’t been good lately but they’re not nearly as bad as they are this year either. They’ve missed the playoffs the last two years by 3 points and 6 points, in the arguably tougher conference.

Scary!!!

I hate to admit it but from what I read, and I have dug around on Jagr, he’s looking to come back with Pit. That suks for everyone else because imagine Jagr with Malkin as his center playing second line minutes. I love Jagr he’s always been one of my favorites, and when he came to the Rangers, I liked him even more. But….I hate Pit. and I fear the fact that even an aging Jagr going to that team he would be friggin awesome.

by Cynar on Feb 18, 2010 9:08 AM EST reply actions

that was a rumor that was shot down a while ago, the one where he said he’d be willing to play for minimum? Jagr hated it in Pittsburgh. Infact, he requested a trade out of Pitt and its unsure if they’ll even retire his #

Pit

The league min. thing was shot down, but from what I heard he wants to go back there because of Lemiuex plus Jagr is supposed to really like their current roster.

by Cynar on Feb 18, 2010 10:53 AM EST reply actions

Living in Pitt

I hear the Jagr rumors all the time. Last year he said in an interview (this is a year ago and take this with a grain or several grains of salt) that if he came back, he would want to play mostly with Pittsburgh or NY…he mentioned how much he respected Lemiuex, how much Mario did for his career, and how good Pittsburgh is. I believe he still owns a house here, but who knows what he’ll do. All I know is that if he still has considerable talent and he goes to Pittsburgh for a few years, they’ll be even more deadly.

Pitt

Thats pretty much all I was saying, not sure what Orr’s plan is but I would opt for sun and fun, not cold and ice hockey. :) A friend of my lives in Pitt. and knows a couple people who work in the arena. The person he talks to has said he is going to Pitt. I’m not sure if it’s abolute fact and since I’m a Ranger fan I would like to think we have a chance of getting him back. Jagr on Pitt with Malkin as his center………were screwed what a talented team.

Bobby Orr likes their roster but he ain;t coming back

by earthworm on Feb 18, 2010 11:31 AM EST reply actions

about jagr meister

i think it would be awesome if he came back to the rangers. but i think he will end up in pitt and that would be scary ..

20 goals at least

for a reasonable price who wouldn’t want him? We sure could use him,he’d get any line he’s on going.
