USA vs Sweden...What would you do?

Moral question of the day....

Just say that the USA Men's hiockey team meets Sweden in the semi's or finals at the Olympics....

Should Drury and Callahan tell their fellow USA team mates the best way to beat Lundqvist?

We know the best way to beat Lundqvist is up high, but team mates know other weakness'....

What would you do?

What comes first.....country Patriotism or the bond between paid professionals who you may have to play with for years to come?

I’d run Hank……oh wait a minute….lol. Drury with a hat trick…..callahan scores the game winner in the 97th round of the shootout.

The NHL website had an article other other day called “Friendships on Hold.” You could also say “Teammates on Hold.” You play to win in the game you’re playing. Having said that, I’m not sure what Drury and Callahan could really reveal about Hank as far as weaknesses beyond ‘high glove side,’ which everyone already knows.

They will do everything they can to beat him, and if its one of the two of them coming down the wing I’m sure they’re going to go high glove

But as for revealing to the rest of their team what Hank’s achilles heel really is, I doubt that would happen.

Country or not, they are professionals, and I dont think they would knowingly give up such information to people who will be their prime competition again in 2 weeks.

Country comes first, but lets not forget who signs their checks.

Food for thought: if USA SWEDEN ere to end in a shootout, would you put Drury or Cally out there?

Blunter than Sather's Cigars....

of course u.s.a.

if that does happen with u.s.a. playing for the gold against the king its u.s.a. all the way sorry king its just my country that i was born into and love . but lets say the russians play the swedes i would love the swedes to kick the crap out of malkin and ovechkin and that whole sissy russian team but thats of course if our beloved boys in red white and blue get eliminated from play i dont know about you but i cant wait for the rangers to get back on the ice and i am anxious to see what sather is going to do at the trade deadline ..

Everyone and his mother already knows that

You really think there’s an NHL player who doesnt know the way to beat Henrik is high glove? The problem is actually executing it. Drury wouldnt be giving away any information you couldnt figure out by watching 5 minutes of highlights.

Exactly. Then again, that’s most goaltenders world-wide because the butterfly (or a hybridization of the form) has become the norm. It’s much harder to hit a high corner than to fire a shot along the surface of the ice. It’s a matter of percentages. So a typical butterfly guy will drop down, knees close, feet spread towards the posts, and arms about halfway. They’re usually vulnerable just above the pads and in the corners, and they’re not as mobile (quick passes after a fake) because they drop down prior to a shot.

Hence when we see Henrik get beat, it’s typically up high, or on deflections.

Brodeur is really one of the last true stand-up netminders (hence why you saw him get beat low his last game).

And…yeah…country above all else. Hell, if we were playing Slovakia in elimination and Gabby was flying down the wing I’d fully expect Cally to leave a Nike Swoosh Logo from his jersey on Gabby’s chin.
