Rangers News: The Blueshirts Get Back to Work

The Rangers Olympic Break officially ends this morning, when the team (well, most of them) will gather at the MSG Training Center for their first team practice in about 10 days.

One week left until the trading deadline, so the rumors will be picking up steam in the coming days. To buy or to sell has been the debate on this site over the last month, and while the consensus of most fans has been to sell, if you have followed the Rangers for long, you know that they are rarely a team that sets up a table at the flea market come trade deadline.

Will Sheldon Souray be a Ranger next week? Will Brandon Dubinsky? Will Glen Sather pull another rabbit out of his hat and find a way to rid the team of some of the albatross contracts he has doled out? It's going to be an interesting week, that much is certain.

Let's just remember not to get all caught up in the rumors; we all know there are quite a few people who make their living off pulling NHL trades out of their keister. We will as always try and find the most credible info out there to bring to you guys.

Looking forward to getting back down to Ranger hockey.

GO USA!

I don’t understand why we even want Souray. Not enough Defense depth in Hartford? No one who could use experieince? Trade proposal simply doesn’t make sense.

It makes sense if and only if Redden/Rozsival is involved, either by being unloaded or shipped to Hartford. They don’t have the cap room to acquire Souray otherwise.

If it does happen, it won’t be Dubi for Souray straight up. I’d count on Cogliano coming with it, and at least a prospect going to Edmonton.

It shouldn’t happen though. If you’re going to trade Dubinsky, you better get at least a top 6 forward in return.

I agree it shouldn’t happen. But I think we’re better off with R or R then Souray—who seems a bit injury prone. If we’re trading contracts, I think we’re still better off with R or R. Maybe we’re getting Edmonton’s pick? LOL

I’d almost rather the injury prone guy. The team’s in dead-endsville anyway, at least if Souray breaks you stick him on IR and get a little cap relief.

Good point. That will never happen with R&R.

Hell they could step in fron of a speeing bus… we all know what would happen…

It would go right around them…. and score.

Not Wrong at all!

Funny as hell!

Although, it’s a bit painful ‘cause it’s probably true….. bittersweet humor LOL

who started this rumor?

Who knows?! “Rangers interested in Souray” has been out there for weeks. For that matter, anytime anyone is supposedly being made available, immediately the “Rangers” have “interest”. It’s a safe “headline” – based on past experience!

You Think

Drury has increased his market value with the way he’s played in the olympics? Maybe we can convince him to waive that NTC…

by Tophubufu on Feb 24, 2010 11:44 AM EST reply actions

he grew up idolizing this team, why would he want to leave??? either way I like Drury if we can get rid of rozi and reddens contracts, that would make dealing with his contract a lot easier.

Team USA

Be nice if Team USA would take gold. US and Canada final would be a good game for the final. Hopefully it’ll get more people interested in the best game played
