Two Trade Predictions

Please keep in mind that the Rangers would have to make one additional move to dump about a half a million dollars in order for these scenarios to take place.

First Trade:

To Rangers

Alex Frolov
Sean O'Donnel

To Kings

Michal Rozsival
Brandon Dubinsky

Second Trade:

To Rangers

Sheldon Souray
Andrew Cogliano

To Oilers

Dan Girardi
Aaron Voros

Rangers shed: ~ $9.3 million
Rangers take in:~ $10.6 million

Current Cap space ~ $500,000

They would then need to do is free up $800,000

even if i was to say the king trade was a good one, which i would definitely be on the fence about just because frolov is an impending FA so basically we sell dubi just to dubi rozi, why on earth would we turn right around and waste the cap space we just gained by taking on souray?

by Michael Gleich on Feb 27, 2010 7:47 PM EST reply actions

as far as the math the 1.3 mil difference only translates into 350K or so in actual cap hit the rest of the year so they wouldnt have to make any other moves to fit under the cap.

I like it

I would do these two trades in a heartbeat but I don’t see LA making that trade just to get dubinsky.

Can't we just forget Sheldon fking Souray?

Cogliano for that matter too?

I dunno if I’d trade anything else for them other them Wade Redden and/or Rozi. Straight up.

Souray is too injury prone. It would be like having Wade Redden + always on IR.

Horton

I think the Rangers want Nathan Horton.

He’s young and scores goals.

I didn’t say I WANTED this to happen, just that I think they have a good chance.

Let's see

Dubinsky 23 years old – 1.94 P/60, 0.099 QualComp, outscoring 36-26 on the ice.
13-18-31 in 49 games

Frolov 27 years old – 2.02 P/60, 0.008 QualComp, outscored 37-42 on the ice.
13-24-37 in 60 games.

I mean, I know Frolov has had a couple of 30 goal seasons, as recently as last year, but I don’t see how this makes much sense, short term or long term, other than to get rid of Rozsival.

right only point is to get rid of rozi cause frolov is going to want at least 3-4 mil as a ufa so pointless especially if they turn around and take on souray’s awful deal.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 27, 2010 9:49 PM EST up reply actions

if it were REDDEN and not ROZI it might be worth a passing thought.

A very brief, fleeting, momentary passing thought. To be dismissed more quickly than it took to process.

I don’t think Sather is talking to EDM any longer.

I hope he’s not talking to anyone – even though I know that’s a fool’s hope….

Eh, I think Sather is certainly talking to Edmonton, both about Cogliano and Souray. I’m hoping nothing will come of it relating to those two, but there are targets in the Oiler organization worth exploring.

im seeing cogliano in montreal and souray in washington or at least that is my hope.

I would do the Kings trade as a salary dump, but if I were to give up Dubi I would want it to be a deal for Horton and Seidenberg/Leopold, as others have said.

maybe the LA thing is the back up plan

by earthworm on Feb 28, 2010 11:46 AM EST reply actions

In reality the Edmonton deal you have does not really sacrifice anything. Voros is certainly not integral now that shelley and prust are here. Girardi was pretty much run out of tonw by most of us. Who knows if he is in the plans. The difference is whatever salary we take on. But I don’t think Cogs is an East Coast player.

by earthworm on Feb 28, 2010 11:52 AM EST reply actions

really cause to me it sacrifices 5 mil in cap space.

by Michael Gleich on Feb 28, 2010 12:51 PM EST up reply actions

You mean we take that on. Right. I’m thinking along the lines of giving up a good player to get Souray. I’m not sure he has anything we need……..that he can actually deliver.

by earthworm on Feb 28, 2010 2:16 PM EST reply actions

I dont see LA taking roszival, especially since kovalchuk is on free agent market

by chillllll on Feb 28, 2010 5:00 PM EST reply actions

Souray is a waste. He’s oft-injured, not good defensively…it’d be a pathetic exchange for us. Either get somebody that can clear the crease or forget about it. I’m tired of Sheldon Souray trade rumors. FVCK Sheldon Souray and the horse he rode in on.

I’ve heard rumors Froglove is going to the KHL if he doesn’t get $$$, which means he’s Nik Zherdev. Nice when he plays, but for the most part will be a wallflower that doesn’t backcheck or play D. Just….no.

by Caerid11 on Feb 28, 2010 9:24 PM EST reply actions

The Kings are not gonna trade anyone was what I heard during their last game before the Olympic Break. So nix that idea.
