Ugh. I was so looking forward to a night of Rangers Hockey without Joe Mich………….

He needs one of those dog zap collars anytime he crosses the red line it should zap him. I love Staal but his offense just…isn’t there…yet?
you have seen what happens when staal is told to play offense, look at the beginning of the year, he wasnt terrible but he wasnt himself

Yeah he was having a real horrible time with it. But it’s something that might come with time. I mean we’re not looking for him to make Leetchian rushes up the ice, but he may develop a real good passing game and an accurate shot…I’d say he’s got the smarts for being a good pointman (not the stupid shit Kotalik was).
Lidstrom …… apples and oranges man.
Nick Lidstrom is a phenomenal passer, and has one of the most accurate shots from the point…it’s why Holmstrom is as effective as he is.
you're kidding me
lidstrom isnt an offensive talent? have you ever seen him play?

Chara, Volchenkov, and Pronger are better this year.
The two Johnson’s are neither the best on their teams nor better than Staal this year.
Especially Jack, who is 50GF, 64GA while on the ice, and getting 3rd pair competition.

ok id like to get the stats but idk where smurf and leetch find them..
can you guys back me up here?
LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
Well, he’s down to 19th in Defensive GVT
But..3rd hardest minutes in the NHL, behind Lundin(TB) and Volchenkov (OTT) (minimum 30 games played). And the team outscores while he’s on.
Only Pronger and Chara are among the top 10 in QualComp that can say that.
And his 1.08 points/60min at ES is 24th in the league.
Staal rules.
Camp Tortorella - Where Vomit is a Mainstay
by George E. Ays on Mar 16, 2010 8:19 PM EDT up reply actions
I think Staal has more to offer, but his defensive positioning is by far the best on our D, and he’s TERRIFIC with the puck in our own zone, rarely do I see a mistake from him with it.
I think 3.5 because a guy like Volchenkov is making I think 4 right now…and Volchenkov I think brings a little more intangibles like physicality and shot blocking. Anything more and you get into 2-way territory which Staal is NOT.
Yeah it’s probably gonna be a long-term deal, he’s 28 now so it’s a good time for it.
I’d love to have him here IF we drop Redden/Rosi so the $$$ works out.
Lets assassinate Redden
and give the money to Staal.

Terrible period by Montreal. If we had any sense of urgency , we’d be up 3-0. It looked like our sticks were sprayed with silicone or something ,every shot slipped off the blade. We have to finish every check and play with some sort of intensity. They look lost. Cally,Ave’s,and Gabby need to lead the way . Dubi looks hungover or something. Let me tell you why Torts is not a great coach: You bench Avery, he comes back and scores 3 goals in 1 game and one period, but plays under 9 minutes through two periods. What kind of message are you sending?? I’ll bench you, then you play well, and I still won’t give you ice time. Great.
He’s been the best forward on the team tonight and has no ice time.

It’s typical piss-poor analysis. The Rangers are completely futile on offense…so the other team plays great D. The other team can’t generate offense to save their lives…the Rangers played a great defensive game.
all you have to do is stand there
the Rangers will shoot the puck into the defenders.
And they never get hurt either, cuz the Rangers shots are softer then Alex Semin

Someone explain this to me, cause I'm new to hockey and don't get to watch the Rangers much in Pittsburgh,
but how are they leading or near the league lead in hits? Is that basically meaningless?
The stat
Yes, it’s mostly subjective and can vary depending on what kind of mood the official scorer is in.

Pittsburgh is a very good team...
But its not like they built the team through great skill like Detroit getting late round gems like Zetterberg. They sucked really bad and got their core group of players…its like if the Giants sucked and had the #1 and #2 overall pick for four years in a row. Being in enemy territory is frustrating cause you hear all this propaganda…

It's Over !!
This is my second post and probably my last for this season. That was a game that could have easily been one. Redden and Roszival are rewarding our boo’s for lack of effort with thoughts of hunting, fishing , and little boys at bus stops.(take your pick).Right now they’re a cancer. Jokinen is thinking about next year a’la John Abraham from the jets a while back. Our defenseman can be rated inversely by what they make. Staal the least paid is the best. Redden the highest paid, the worst. Gilroy at 25 is a question mark. There’s no guarantee there. Del Zotto is a terrible defenseman, but at 19 can become great if he’s coached properly. That’s a big if! Anyone who talks about his points as a rookie doesn’t know anything about hockey. Russ Salzberg may think points are important, but in reality it’s like judging a Major League Pitcher by his batting average. If we refuse to take the body defensively, we will never win anything. I miss the days of good Rangers Defenseman. Right now I’d take Mara, Strudwick, Morris, and Rich Pilon
lol strudwick
Go read copper&blue and search “Strudwick”
The words “20th Star” will come up a lot.
