Rangers Speculation: Greg's Rumor Chart Updated
Please be advised that these are rumors and we are not claiming in any way that any of which is posted below will come to fruition. This is based on what I am hearing from sources both public and private inside certain organizations. Just wanted to condense them all in one article so we can keep track of them as the hours go by.
Involving the Rangers
1. Rangers are going full throttle after David Booth of the Florida Panthers. I wish they were not because I don't want to risk trading for a player that has spent more than half the season on the IR with a concussion. Names involved to be going the other way are Dan Girardi. But keep in mind that Girardi has been thrown around all over the place. Nathan Horton's name has also been more prevalent, but again, he is coming off a broken leg so I wouldn't risk it. Here's a name to consider that hasn't been mentioned: Gregory Campbell, a center whose dad coached the New York Rangers and won a Cup in 1994 as the assistant.
2. Rangers are in serious talks with the San Jose Sharks, inquiring about both Devin Setoguchi and Joe Pavelski. They will most likely have to settle for one or the other, but will probably have a better chance at Setoguchi. The price may be too high for Pavelski, but if San Jose wants to really move him (for reasons unknown to me), then Dubinsky and Girardi would be the combination headed out west.
3. What would a deadline be without Oilers and Coyotes speculation ? At least there's no Ed Jovanovski rumors this time (watch him finally get dealt here after years of deadline rumors). Obvious names being thrown around from up north are Sheldon Souray and Andrew Cogliano. This trade, along with number 2, both hinge on each other because the Rangers only have a select group they are willing to deal. Peter Mueller from Phoenix has also been tossed around.

i agree i want no part of booth cause of the concussions and contract goes to 2014-15. horton had a clean break, blocking a shot, much different long term injury risk with him than booth.
i would deal dubi an girardi for pavelski. setoguchi scares me as another chechoo who was huge with thornton but nothing when separated.
Booth?! LOLOLOLOL
You said you wouldn’t risk Horton because of coming off a broken leg? I’d be more concerned about Booth and his concussion, in which he was knocked OUT COLD. Horton is a Messier type of player; another winger he reminds me of is Iginla… another Messier type. I get the feeling that Booth’s skill could just drop off one day as well, and I really have no way to prove that, it’s just a feeling I get about him. Oh and his six year 4.250 per doesn’t look nearly a good as Horton’s 3 years at 4 per. If they get Booth I will be livid. But it would be typical Sather. He seems to love overrated egg heads… and strays from real hockey players. I’m all for Setoguchi, if we’re not giving up more than say… Girardi and a pick?
The next Pat LaFontaine. Just don’t bump into him when changing lines.

This came straight out of rumorville. You won’t find a source. And for that reason I suspect (as I’d bet you do) that there’s nothing to this.

As with the Sharks deal. There is absolutely nothing behind this.

Im loving the first two deals if we can get them with onnly those players involved that would be great.. but if were gonna give up dubinsky we better get someone good.. i tlike this move..
i also love the david booth move thats what we reallly need for a left winger is speed and skill and he bring that!!! go get him sather or i wont like you later..
I hate the souray dela. it stinks. unless we can unload big contracts and lots of holes in our wing sor defense then .. or powerplay the forget them and edmonton high priced players. i would stick with youth and go with booth and the shars deal sounds likely to me.
if i were sather i would give up some late round picks for some guys if i didnt have to give up dubinsky.. we have some good young kids here. and coming up.. what we need.
i say we give up drury to san jose with dubinksy for setouguchi. pavelsky,. and then get also a first round pick from san jose and use the salary dump. to get a young player.. etc or sign all our young ones..
NO BOOTH!! HE HAS A 4 MILLION DOLLAR CAP HIT
I CANNOT GET ANY BOLDER THAN THIS!

It means Eklund is pretty much saying the trade is completed
which means hey I just did it on NHL 10 it must work
The deal with SJ sounds the most promising..
as the Rangers do need a couple of righty-shooting forwards. But, I wouldn’t want to see Dubi moved in that deal. Now that Lisin is on waivers, that would be on to add him and Voros to. Especially since we got Shelley from them just before the break.

Ok dude.
Where are you hearing these San Jose rumors. Why, oh why, would San Jose trade either of those guys in the midst of a must win season.
Ridic.
