Avery-Anisimov-Jokinen???

Really? Does Torts just use a random line generator?

by stonecoldcory on Mar 21, 2010 11:22 AM EDT reply actions

dont worry the line will be history by 14 min left in the first.

by mleetch352 on Mar 21, 2010 11:24 AM EDT up reply actions

if you switch prospal and aves it not a bad set though imo.

by mleetch352 on Mar 21, 2010 11:25 AM EDT up reply actions

I think they should give Anisimov 2nd line minutes, drop Drury down to 3rd line center.
And have Dubinsky centering Gaborik

by stonecoldcory on Mar 21, 2010 11:27 AM EDT up reply actions

although dubinsky is stronger on the boards than EC, so I guess that works

by stonecoldcory on Mar 21, 2010 11:28 AM EDT up reply actions

i dont care what number they call it, just PT. last game at least in the first two periods it was pretty even for the top 9 forwards. the problem came in the third where AA played 2:14

by mleetch352 on Mar 21, 2010 11:37 AM EDT up reply actions

Anisimov seems to get knocked off his skates easily for being a bigger guy. He’s taken some shots this year. I think he needs to get stronger, hopefully that will come in the offseason

I did!

I had St Mary’s beating ’Nova too…thought I was all set.

Only the BSB one

But even if I was I’d have picked it that way. I liked Cornell alot, if they were anywhere else I’d have them even farther, I don’t like them against Kentucky.

They have a defacto NBA team. How many of those freshmen are gonna be 1st round draft picks?

by XLII on Mar 21, 2010 11:56 AM EDT up reply actions

I’ve heard people say at least 6 of them could be 1st rounders. Not necessarily freshman, though.

by stonecoldcory on Mar 21, 2010 11:57 AM EDT up reply actions

Had to pick a team other than Kansas. Didn’t trust them. Was praying Vermont would beat Syracuse, and Duke can’t win, so naturally, Kentucky was a good option.

Is there any doubt the Rangers are winning this game?

Well..of course there, cuz they stink. But Boston sucks too (can never say that enough you know…think I will again, BOSTON SUCKS!).

But they’ll keep the season interesting right till the very end. They’re still in it….unfortunately.

Master of the squeegee

by FreeBradshaw on Mar 21, 2010 11:50 AM EDT reply actions

They’ll probably win, just to screw with everyone, then lose to the Islanders on Wed.

by stonecoldcory on Mar 21, 2010 11:51 AM EDT up reply actions

Yea even though they’re not a hockey rival, you never wanna see a Boston team do well

by XLII on Mar 21, 2010 11:52 AM EDT up reply actions

But man, Toronto has really set them up the build a powerhouse, which sucks

by XLII on Mar 21, 2010 11:52 AM EDT up reply actions

if toronto keeps up the run they are on that pick that looked top for a while could end up 6 or 7 which while still good would be great to screw boston.

by mleetch352 on Mar 21, 2010 11:55 AM EDT up reply actions

Yea, but as it stands right now, Boston gets Seguin or Hall

by XLII on Mar 21, 2010 11:57 AM EDT up reply actions

which is why there is 10 games left and toronto has won 7 of 9. they are only 7 behind us and we play them twice, so they could even catch us if they keep it up.

The signings I would make in the offseason

I would sign someone like Plekanec to play with Gaborik. Then possibly Frolov, to play with AA. But, Plekanec is a must IMO. Plekanec is a fantastic playmaker, and would thrive with someone like Gaborik. Then of course resign Prospal. I think those acquisitions would solve our offensive blunders.

Now to the defense……………………

I do not expect Staal to be making in excess of anything over 3 million

Girardi is making 1.5 mill and I would not bring him back, so there is another 1.5 off the books.

by Scent of a Woman on Mar 21, 2010 2:25 PM EDT up reply actions

if vinny goes, he has to be replaced (ie another kotalik)
if girardi goes then we are talking another contract he gives out.

can we really believe that suddenly next year they will let sangs or even potter play next year when they watched this trash all year.

by mleetch352 on Mar 21, 2010 2:28 PM EDT up reply actions

That is why I would have traded people like Girardi at the deadline

To first gain draft picks, which would make the strongest part of the team, its farm system, even stronger.
And second, to let guys like Sanguinetti and co. get extended time to play and earn their stripes with the big club.

I’m getting greedy. With Toronto and Carolina getting hot, we can get Seguin with a proper fail.

Well, they need two more wins at least, just so Lundqvist reaches 30… so a minimum of 4 points they need to earn.

It's a fun mark

I’d rather have Seguin than have Henrik reach an arbitrary number.

Henrik is the only goaltender in history to have won at least 30 games in each of his first 4 seasons. Why not continue that feat?

what player has ever been a ranger for that long in recent history?

by stonecoldcory on Mar 21, 2010 2:54 PM EDT up reply actions

Leetch and Richter.

It would not surprise me at all though if Callahan, Dubinsky, Staal, Henrik, and Del Zotto were all here that long.

Also

Because win totals are bloated by the silly Bettman point. I wonder how many goalies would’ve gotten to 30 if they werent’ awarded ties.

Does matter a little….is it really a record if the only reason he has it is because older players couldn’t benefit from the rule change?

I agree 200% Single season and career records.

Doesn’t obscure the point that I’m not going to choose to root for the record over obtaining a player with superstar potential.

Wretched, Wretched Performance

The Rangers are absolutely putrid. MDZ got the only goal, but he demonstrated that he cannot play defense all game long. Henrik the only Ranger that looked like he belonged in the NHL. Olli out of position and taking stupid penalties. Gaborik invisible. Nobody able to pass or shoot in the offensive zone or clear in the defensive zone. Everyone seemed slow and tentative. Boston is not a good team and the Rangers are playing as poorly as any team in the league. Right now, the Rangers are not as good as the Oilers, Leafs, Islanders or Hurricanes. We are so bad that we deserve the first pick.
