Enough of this throw in the towel and sell. I’m not saying we should sacrifice a ton o youth, but you’re a fool for not wanting to get better an make a run at it. You never know what 2-3 guys could do to the dynamic especially if it’s legit blueline help. LET’S GO RANGERS

interesting, seems to suggest that gilroy for hamhuis could be done and if that’s the case i would be all over that.
+1
I feel Gilroy is the best Rangers’ asset to use as bait. I wouldn’t lose sleep over trading him. he has great offensive potential but Del Zotto has more.

Really? Where do I sign? Does it still count if the contract is on fire from the speed of the pen?

salary issue?
is Hamhuis up for a salary increase? maybe Nashville is a bit stingy in the money department and would rather get something for him if they cant sign him or he asks for too much?
by truebluesince75 on Mar 3, 2010 8:42 AM EST up reply actions
Well that’s absolutely the case.
However, they can get more than just Gilroy for him.

im not saying i dont understand them dealing him but a return of more than gilroy should easily be had not to mention they need offense.
C’mon ! You know that there will be more involved in a deal like this than a straight up one for one. To make it worthwhile for NSH – especially considering the other offers that are probably on the table – will require one high draft pick, or two mid-high picks.
And for that reason, Sather should walk – no….. RUN – away.
BlueshirtBanter - beating up reporters at bus stops since 1994
"Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right......"
only other offer that has had names to it was Ryan Parent from Phi who has no picks top 2 rounds this year.
But you have to know that there are others talking with them about Hamhuis.
Like probably Lamoriello – who loves to sneak in under the radar and make things happen (which, IMO, is a smart way to operate).
Also remember that nobody had Antropov or Morris with #NYR until those deals were essentially done last year.
No – I think we need to get “off the grid” – ’cause Sather tends to pull unlikely scenarios out of his humidor on deadline day.

please do not sacrifice Dubi or Cally just to shed Redden
rectifying a bad mistake by making an even bigger mistake is just plain stupid.
swallow your pride Sather and send Redden to the minors if need be.
How's a bout instead of "selling" or "buying"
they make a reasonable trade? One that doesn’t suck maybe?
Like not trading for Souray…..Redden/Rozi + a part not named Dubi or Callaha would be OK.
Master of the squeegee
Slim and none appear again.
Same thing happened last year @ deadline. Voros waived. Stayed on the roster for a while, then was sent to HFD. Called back up when ? was injured and cleared recall waivers.
I don’t expect anyone to pick him up.
Lisin – maybe – but even that is doubtful.

two problems with that

does anyone know who the top standout would be in this years UFA class???
it always seems like the NHL never really has that strong of free agent classes and that teams build through trades and drafts

he had a couple of relatively unsustainable shooting % years though. 20.8% is ridiculously high, 15% high but can be repeated.
also isnt it a redflag when a team w trouble scoring is sending out memo’s about the availability of presumably one of their best scorers?

by giantsNYrangers on Mar 3, 2010 9:48 AM EST up reply actions
I do.
They didn’t really give up a big haul of players (all are basically replaceable) and like leetch says, its very against the Devils to pay one player that much.
Master of the squeegee
I think it was a play at one more cup while Marty still has a few marbles rolling around upstairs. He can’t have many years left, especially with the workload he hauls every season for that team. I see them jettisoning Kovie end of the season and going through a short rebuild when Marty retires and build around Parise.
If Sather miraculously Donnie Walsh’s his way out of Redden and/or Rozi’s contract…Kovy to the Rangers is a possibility.
He might be a douche..but so is Ovechkin.
Kovy is basically a better, less injury prone Gaborik.
Master of the squeegee
Let me say this.......If Sather somehow gets out of Reddens deal
I will wait a full 6months b4 I say anything negative about him. And going 6 months is a big deal!
fire sather
if we get rid of redden do we cancel the FIRE SATHER Rally?
Redden looks like Burt and has perma-frown
anybody see how pissed Gabby looked during his interview last night?
Like he was thinking…………..“My god damn groin AGAIN?”
@NYP_Brooksie Can tell you that as of last night Rangers had not inquired about Souray or Demitra
file under potential good news.
I find it really hard to believe they haven’t at least asked about Souray. I believe there’s no actual proposal though.
