I think very good. The guys we want to move nobody wants.

yea, it just occurred to me – if we do stand pat, its probably not by choice – I’m sure Sather’s trying to do something stupid.

Enough of this throw in the towel and sell. I’m not saying we should sacrifice a ton o youth, but you’re a fool for not wanting to get better an make a run at it. You never know what 2-3 guys could do to the dynamic especially if it’s legit blueline help. LET’S GO RANGERS

interesting, seems to suggest that gilroy for hamhuis could be done and if that’s the case i would be all over that.

by mleetch352 on Mar 3, 2010 8:30 AM EST reply actions

+1

I feel Gilroy is the best Rangers’ asset to use as bait. I wouldn’t lose sleep over trading him. he has great offensive potential but Del Zotto has more.

Really? Where do I sign? Does it still count if the contract is on fire from the speed of the pen?

salary issue?

is Hamhuis up for a salary increase? maybe Nashville is a bit stingy in the money department and would rather get something for him if they cant sign him or he asks for too much?

by truebluesince75 on Mar 3, 2010 8:42 AM EST up reply actions

Well that’s absolutely the case.

However, they can get more than just Gilroy for him.

im not saying i dont understand them dealing him but a return of more than gilroy should easily be had not to mention they need offense.

by mleetch352 on Mar 3, 2010 8:43 AM EST up reply actions

C’mon ! You know that there will be more involved in a deal like this than a straight up one for one. To make it worthwhile for NSH – especially considering the other offers that are probably on the table – will require one high draft pick, or two mid-high picks.

And for that reason, Sather should walk – no….. RUN – away.

only other offer that has had names to it was Ryan Parent from Phi who has no picks top 2 rounds this year.

by mleetch352 on Mar 3, 2010 9:05 AM EST up reply actions

But you have to know that there are others talking with them about Hamhuis.
Like probably Lamoriello – who loves to sneak in under the radar and make things happen (which, IMO, is a smart way to operate).

Also remember that nobody had Antropov or Morris with #NYR until those deals were essentially done last year.

No – I think we need to get “off the grid” – ’cause Sather tends to pull unlikely scenarios out of his humidor on deadline day.

please do not sacrifice Dubi or Cally just to shed Redden

rectifying a bad mistake by making an even bigger mistake is just plain stupid.

swallow your pride Sather and send Redden to the minors if need be.

by truebluesince75 on Mar 3, 2010 8:32 AM EST reply actions

How's a bout instead of "selling" or "buying"

they make a reasonable trade? One that doesn’t suck maybe?

Like not trading for Souray…..Redden/Rozi + a part not named Dubi or Callaha would be OK.

Same thing happened last year @ deadline. Voros waived. Stayed on the roster for a while, then was sent to HFD. Called back up when ? was injured and cleared recall waivers.

I don’t expect anyone to pick him up.

Lisin – maybe – but even that is doubtful.

10:03 a.m. – It looks like Tomas Vokoun to Philadelphia is in the works, and that Jeff Carter is the target for Florida. Not exactly a salary dump for Panthers; Carter is owed $5 million next season.

great move for florida if that happened.

by mleetch352 on Mar 3, 2010 10:25 AM EST reply actions

follow up to this

9:58 a.m. – Tomas Vokoun has apparently agreed to waive his NTC for small number of teams.

that would free up space for boston to make a much bigger move.

by mleetch352 on Mar 3, 2010 10:28 AM EST up reply actions

it cant be the mueller deal can it?

by mleetch352 on Mar 3, 2010 10:29 AM EST up reply actions

Not sure. I doubt it, I think Mueller goes to Col.

Good Deal for Phoenix

They get a player who is used to them and visa verca for relatively cheap. Everyone forgets the Coyotes are actually going to play in the Playoffs this year.

Given what other teams are paying for veteran d-men, it’s impressive to just give up a 4th.

Camp Tortorella - Where Vomit is a Mainstay

by George E. Ays on Mar 3, 2010 10:44 AM EST up reply actions

True…. Bruins also have D-men in Providence that they are not afraid to bring up.

i live in boston, i watch Morris….. he has had some issues this year. this deal is a wash.

by Strades on Mar 3, 2010 10:45 AM EST up reply actions

NYR fans would say the same...

but its a lower-risk trade because of the five seasons he played in Phoenix before… where he played his best hockey

And its risky for PHX ‘cause he’s playing for a new (and unknown) coach.

Not all that risky, though, given that all it took to get him was a 4th rounder. Net over 2 years for PHX is positive.

by b4mv01 on Mar 3, 2010 10:54 AM EST up reply actions

To me

Girardi is worth either a third or a second. I would not want to see him go though. If he did I hope he would want to come back.

Depends on whose definition of ‘solid’ is being used….

I mean – Wade Redden is a ‘solid’ defenseman

No. I mean, Dubinsky’s the only top 6 on our team being shopped. If they’ll give up Prospal, that would work too.
