This morning at work I came across this...
This is big news in several ways:
For one, it takes a major RFA off the list for this summer. It also serves big notice to the other GM's of the league with big RFA contracts to be negotiated. If this is at all the significant deal Washington's cap space going into next season allows, this could be a similar deal to Ovechkin's.

This makes me a little nervous about negotiations with Marc Staal...because on a mediocre team, Staal was the best player behind Lundquist and Gaborik. I'm also thinking that all of us who have been chirping about potentially trying to pry Joe Pavelski and any other RFA away, may really have a snowball's chance in the Mojave.
