As per NHL.com: Nicklas Lidstrom has signed a one year contract with the Detroit Red Wings. For those of you that thought he might be a Ranger next year ... well, that pipe-dream is over.

Who thought Lidstrom was going to come here?
Plus, considering his salary, this idea wasn’t even plausible. The contract is just over $6 million, which I may add, is a decrease from the $7.45 million he was earning this season.

obviously he was never leaving det,
but if he was willing i woulda taken Lidstrom at one year 8m in a second. Wouldn’t even think twice. Send Redden down, you suddenly have a top notch D, a short commitment, and havent really hurt your salary cap space situation cause its going up 2m and redden is 6.5 off the books

If I were Lidstrom i’d have said hey you guys have to pay me at least what Wade Redden is making
