2010 NHL Free Agency: Open Thread
12:31- Rangers re-sign Erik Christensen two year 900-950K per year.
Well, its the first day of shopping for the NHL. Lots of trades have already gone down, plenty of players on the move, but the Rangers have been eerily quiet thus far, except for a few non-surprising waiver moves.
Use this as your open thread for the day, and we'll be updating with any moves that get made.
Happy Canada Day to our friends up north!
Don't forget we will recap everything that did or didn't go on tonight on Blueshirt Banter Radio at 9 PM EST

I think it’s funny how we have the same attitude today that we had at the trade deadline. I think most of us just don’t want them to do anything stupid.

Latest Rumor Making the Rounds
Rangers to sign Robert Nilsson, LW/RW for 2 yrs / 3 mil to play on line with Dubinski and Callahan
Not a fan. I was willing to take him on to facilitate getting rid of Redden, but he’s not good enough to play with Dubi/Cally.
Camp Tortorella - Where Vomit is a Mainstay
by George E. Ays on Jul 1, 2010 10:30 AM EDT up reply actions
over the past 3 years, he has a higher shooting percentage than cally and more points/game than dubinsky….
Umm…what?
Dubinsky: 125 points in 233 games = 0.536 ppg
Nilsson: 97 points in 195 games = 0.497.
He also gets sugar soft competition compared to Dubinsky and has a terrible 5v5 P/60 number compared to Dubi.

Nilsson is extremely gifted offensively. He can do pretty much anything with the puck and combines a great skating technique with fine technical skills, excellent passes and tremendous hockey sense. He is more of a play-maker than a sniper but is still capable of putting the puck in the net. (hockeyfutures)

He’s one of the dirtiest players in the league and contributes absolutely zero to your team:
Essentially, Boogard’s results are no better or worse than your average goon, that is, terrible. Against the softest possible competition, he spends his time in his own zone, giving up shots against. He tries to hurt people and pick a fight and costs his team about a win per year. -Derek Zona

your a numbers guy. look at his career numbers and he’s considered an offensive guy. Hes never played a full season in the nhl and he never scores consistently.
HIs career numbers are roughly a 37 pt guy. When he was given minutes in Pittsburgh..he produced at that level. When he was given minutes in Atl…he produced at that level. When he was given minutes here…he produced at that level.
For 950k…he’s a bargain. No, he’s not the 2nd coming…but his production at that price is a good deal.

Pts per game, career, is 0.45. That’s a 37 pt pace. No, he’s never scored more than 33, but he’s never played an 82 game season either.
