"New York Rangers: Yet another "The Rangers should pursue Ilya Kovalchuk" article. What fantasy world are these idiots living in?"
Now I really don't care much about other bloggers opinions, especially Puck Daddy's Ryan Lambert, but when he quotes an article from the Banter and then calls us all idiots, I think that crosses the line.

FYI, I sent an email and the reply I got back was basically “You’re being thin skinned, deal with it”
I don’t give a shit what anyone says about me, I really don’t. Been married twice, so I’ve been called worse. But I don’t appreciate my readers being called idiots, it’s uncalled for.

"I'm 100% shocked"
Ryan Lambert is allowed to write articles, and that they are actually posted for hockey fans to read. His brain vomit is as nauseating and distasteful as Kaberle’s practice jersey (see article). If you read the comments on his post, you’ll notice many others agree.

I don’t agree with his writings, and thankfully, I’m not alone. Best you can do is ignore what he writes, but some people read (and comment) anyway. Hopefully one day people will stop reading and commenting, so it sends a signal to him that his writings aren’t appreciated.
"Jaromir Jagr.... it's a POWER PLAY GOAL!"

"Let me ask you, would you want to play for the Edmonton Oilers...? (laughter)"
-Evgeni Nabokov
A lot of people write comments in his articles voicing their displeasure in his writing. It’s really nothing new. This is the first time I’ve seen anything like this directed at the Banter.
"Jaromir Jagr.... it's a POWER PLAY GOAL!"

Here’s the bottom line:
On this site, the guys and I have worked very hard to make sure it is understood that on Blueshirt Banter, everyone has an opinion, whether we agree with you or not, whether you agree with us or not. All of us may have outlandish opinions on subjects, but we are all entitled to them. We give everyone their equal time, and I don’t tolerate people just calling someone an “idiot” with no constructive criticism to go along with it. But when our stories are linked elsewhere, I have no control over it.
I voiced my concern with Greg, and he disagreed, that is his prerogative. I hope this won’t stop any of you from voicing your opinions here. Puck Daddy does not have to acknowledge and appreciate the contributions of everyone on Blueshirt Banter, I do.

It won’t stop me from voicing my opinions, and I hope it doesn’t stop anyone from voicing theirs. I really didn’t understand why Lambert would do that, but your right, in that you have no control over who links the articles here and why. I just wanted to bring it to your attention. I completely agree that no one here should be called an idiot, and if Lambert has no sensibility to apologize to you, well, that’s his choice. I ignore him as best I can as it is, but this was too insensitive to ignore.
If I may, what did Greg tell you when you asked him about it?

That part of having a “voice” is to be criticized, and the criticism may be caustic.
The last line of the email was “I think you’re being thin-skinned”
To be honest, I like Greg, and I like his work. Ryan not so much, and not just because of yesterday. Anyway, to each his own.

If it’s any consolation, Lambert is a dick to all fanbases as far as I know.
And he has exactly one good piece of writing online—WJC recap.

I like Ryan Lambert, and his what we learned column. I didn’t like the fact that he simply called the writer of the Kovie article an idiot, but I won’t exactly disagree with the thinking that the Rangers who are in salary cap turmoil should pursue arguably the most expensive free agent in NHL history could be described as idiotic.
As The "Idiot" who wrote the post in question
I can’t say that Puck Daddy’s criticism really bothered me. I would compare Ryan calling my be an idiot for what I write to Daniel Alfredson calling Bob Probert a pussy. There’s no sense getting worked up about, it actually seemed to bring some new attention to the board, as I saw some commenters from other yahoo sites.
In simple defense of my post, it’s the offseason, there’s not much to talk about, and as I said in the post, I really could not understand why the Rangers weren’t pursuing Kovi. In the same way that Jim justified Jagr on Mt. Puckmore, Kovi is the one FA who could imediatly right the ship. Get us away from the Gomez/R&R/“Captian Contract” debacle, and put us back on track to be a winner. Futhermore, as “idiotic” as it might seem to Ryan, that post, and Joe’s post before it, generated ALOT of discussion, not just on weather or not to bring in Kovi, but in all types of interesting directions as you meandered through the threads.
All of this having been said, and while I appreciate Jim defending the right of myself and all the other commenters to express their opinion without fear of pointless name calling, I think the easiest thing to do is fight fire with fire. Congratulations Ryan, you’re the latest addition to “Team Larry Brooks” in my personal war on idiots who get paid to write poorly.
