Staal for Setoguchi more Ek stupidity!

First pair anchor for a 2nd line RW? Like the Tortorelli paraphrase, what a joke! But I wouldn't doubt that part, remember him slamming Dubi last year during his holdout. I can't wait for this idiot to be fired, your the coach DH, not the GM so STFU! Does he really expect these guys to play for him!

For the record
Staal shouldn’t come to camp without a contract, it doesn’t make any sense for either party.
Also why does Ek (you shouldn’t link his posts by the way, he doesn’t deserve the hits) call him Tortorelli? He obviously have no idea what he is talking about, about anything.

Ek does actually deserve the hits, he works hard and spends plenty of time talking with good sources. He has broke many stories this offseason he is clearly NOT a fraud as many falsely portray him as

Ahmad I'm surprised
Ek literally has a 3 percent success rate. I truly don’t believe that he has any “good sources” either. I understand having a website that portrays rumors, and I get that GM’s talk all the time and nothing ever comes to fruition.
BUT he E5’s things that don’t happen. He staked his reputation on Heatley joining the Oilers on a “can’t miss source.” He is wrong (while telling people that he is right) all the time.
In a world of hockey blogs, he does so much more bad than good that you can’t even put a number on it.

to be honest i havent been reading his website for long, so i may not have all the info, but just this summer he was the first to break the gagne trade, the first to break the byfuglien trade, and i think a few more too. So while some of his rumors of course dont come to fruition i feel he does get more shit than he deserves in general. He clearly does have some legitimate sources

in the past, he’s broken “rumors” when the trade has already been announced. He’ll call something E5 after it’s already done, and will act as if it’s been up for a while as a rumor. That being said, I didn’t follow him at all this summer, so maybe he did break those trades and he’s getting better… but a big part of me doubts it (he may have just made it seem like he broke them?)
bob mackenzie of tsn gave him credit for reporting the byfuglien deal, so i doubt it

I don’t believe it. Can you give a link? I just looked up the TSN story and Bob McKenzie’s twitter breaking the news and didn’t see anything. The TSN guys are almost always first on the story.

I’m not sure I agree. If the plan is for him to sign in New York what harm is it for him to practtice with the team. If they are planning on trading him then they might not want him to get hurt or have insight on what they are trying to do.
Last year rumors were that Dubinsky couldn’t get his own equipment to practice with. What good did that do? I have no idea if it was true.
Torts is the one who said that he doesn’t want a player in camp that doesn’t have a contract. I would think he would be better to stay out of the buisness end and work on the coaching end. That way he doesn’t have to answer to why our top paid D-man may not even make the team.
I would think he would be better to stay out of the buisness end and work on the coaching end.
what better way to do that than to request that players without contracts not come to camp. It can be a distraction to all involved. Let the coach work with players who are under contract.
Valid point.
During Dubis hold out last year, Torts had no problem talking to the media about it. I don’t remeber the exact words, but he clearly placing the blame on Dubi. Regardless if he was right or wrong, it doesn’t help the relationship once the player is signed.
So while I’m not against the policy as a whole. I just think for the health of the team its best for Coach to work with the GM abou the buisness side and let the GM talk to the players, media, etc…
Last year we had a team that often didn’t show up for at least one period in many games. Something was broken.
You are correct in that the distraction is not needed. Unitl Stall is signed a top defensive pair sure is.
Tortorelli sounds like kind of pasta… an unforgiving, stubborn, chewy, flavorless pasta that demands ‘jam’ from other pastas.
In Hank we trust.

Joe, you stole my idea. You can’t have two classic taglines…. that’s just plain selfish.

Just a bit curious, don’t mean to sound dumb, but what’s the rec system?
Proudly suffering as a Ranger fan
you know how people write "+1"
“Recing” a post (you can do it by hitting actions under a post) means +1 but it’s official. If 5 people rec a post it turns green and a thumb comes up next to it.

Although if the post is extra great, like this one, a +1 AND a rec is necessary.

Plus...
Staal’s agent said last week that they wanted to sign in new york. He’s the best defense men we have at the moment so i doubt they’ll want to trade him. On top of everything we have WAY TO MANY fowards in the line up right now. We don’t need another one. And i personally believe Staal is worth more then Seti.
I could get more love from a Cactus then you..........
we actually have way to many mediocre forwards. We need to start trading them.

just stop clicking it. plain and simple. I don’t mind any rumor websites—just remember “rumors” are just rumors. it’s not fact until it becomes fact.
I think a deal will get done between Staal and Rangers eventually, just like Dubi.
Sather likes to drag his butt on home-grown players…so this shouldn’t come as a surprise.

agree on all counts, hopefully with staal it happens sooner rather than later

When you think about it, this would be a horrible deal. Setoguchi couldn’t produce once he was moved from Thornton’s line, and we’d be giving up our #1 defenseman.
Tortorella said in the team report that he “didn’t have the final say” in deciding who comes to training camp and who does not, but he was saying that if it were up to him…
And Ek is a joke… yeah he broke a few stories, but getting a couple right when getting a couple hundred wrong doesn’t do much for your credibility…
yeah, how many rumors has Heyman gotten right?
and yes, that would be a terrible deal, but it’s not like Sather hasn’t made any in the past before….heh.
