Blueshirt Banter Radio: Radio for New York Rangers Fans Tonight at 8 PM

Voted 51 and 52 in Billboard Magazine's "50 Best-Looking Radio Hosts" List

Hitting 2011 in full stride, a second episode of Blueshirt Banter Radio this week tonight at 8 PM. We will talk about last night's big overtime win over the Canes, Mats Zuccarello, Michael Del  Zotto, the WJC's, Rick Dipietro, and we will preview the upcoming games for the Rangers.

Blueshirt Banter Radio isn't your everyday hockey podcast. It's a live 2 hour show that focuses on the Rangers, but also pokes a fair amount of fun at the other NY area hockey teams, and mixes in a unique brand of comedy. Think of it as a "Morning Zoo" type show that focuses on the Rangers. We have a crazy bunch of callers that take pride in their own mental cases. There is also a live chat that goes on during the show, where no topic seems to be off-limits.

So we hope you can join us tonight at 8 for the World Famous, loved by some despised by others Blueshirt Banter Radio.

And remember, if you miss the show, it is available for download on the show page, as are all of our previous shows, which have featured such guests as Wayne Gretzky, Dave Maloney, Theo Fleury, Emile Francis, and Dale Weise. The show is also available on Itunes and Microsoft Zune, and to my knowledge can be listened to on Droids and Blackberrys. See you tonight!

Langenbrunner Trade to Dallas makes Richards available

This is the exact move the Stars would need to make if they are going to move Brad Richards due to ownership/ salary constraints in the future. Bring in affordable veteran leadership … hopefully a player that can recapture past years of glory in Dallas to fill a potential void created by Richards leaving. Richards has openly expressed that he wants to play for a financially stable team (no $$ issues) with a large fan base. Dallas continues to openly state the need for a young blue chip blueliner (read the reports of their beat writers) McD was brought up to be showcased in Dallas … its the only logical reason for playing him at this point in the season. Someone had to be sent down to make room … not going to be Staal, Giradi, Eminger, or Rosi which left Gilroy, Sauer and MDZ … MDZ was hurt and struggled a bit … Dallas also was interested in Gilroy out of college and Sauer is playing well … so the decision was simple. My prediction … McD either winds up in Dallas or returns to CT … he will not stay with Rangers no room and no reason at this point… Gilroy either goes to Dallas or continues to be part of a 7 Dman platoon. MDZ will be rejoining the team when they return home either way. Rangers need a #1 center to play with Gabby … its going to be Richards … its just a question of how much they are willing to pay Dallas to rent him for this year in lieu of waiting for the offseason free agent market.

Stop w/the Richards stuff.

Why would the team be selling when they’re in first place? The fact that they just acquired Langs means they’re buyers NOT sellers. Plus the Rangers DON’T have the cap space for Richards either!

I guess if I apply your logic then Chicago would not have changed anything this year either. Its a business … they will do what they have to do period.

give it up, the stars are kicking ass and richards is the one of the big reasons why. There’s no way Joe Nieuwendyk (one of my favorite players ever) would ever think about giving him up at the deadline. Now wen it comes to the offseason we gotta see if Dallas has the money to resign him and if not then I think that is when the Rangers should make a play for Richards but if he wants a long 5-6 year deal worth around wat hes making now…i think we gotta pass because we have bigger priorities in the offseason

It took them 30 years to implement the forward pass and 70 to mandate helmets thus making all hockey players who wear helmets and visors as well as goalies who wear masks and pads all wimpy cry babies

No….this is the exact kind of move a team makes when they’re going for broke trying to win a cup this year before the money catches up. This all but solidifies that they’re not trading Richards.

+1

Bingo.

They pick up another depth forward, with playoff experience, that has had big success in Dallas before. Richards is staying put this year.

Dallas has ownership issues … thats their focus .. not the cup

by Blue Skys on Jan 8, 2011 8:01 AM EST up reply actions

If the ownership issues where having that big an effect, they would not be adding salary. All Richards did last night is acknowledge that there are trade rumors that won’t go away.

It’s fine that you believe we’re trading for him, but until the deadline passes, our opinions are just as valid as yours.

if the cup isnt their focus…then something is definitely wrong…every teams focus is to win the cup and doing watever it takes to win and getting rid of ur best offensive player is a step in totally the opposite direction

Sorry folks but did anyone actually watch the game last nite? Both the Ranger and Dallas broadcasts mentioned this several times? Richards didn’t exactly deny that sometning would happen either … only that he has some control and doesn’t worry about this This is a business … you do not let assets walk away for free in hopes of winning a cup. Sorry but you are all wrong about this. I think last nites broadcast solidifies what I am saying … this is the consensus of opinion

by Blue Skys on Jan 8, 2011 7:58 AM EST reply actions

yes both broadcasts mentioned that richards could be traded…but they also mention that dallas is 1st in the pacific and 3rd in the west…it still makes zero sense for an organization who is in that kind of contention to trade their best player
