New York Rangers Open Thread: Rangers Vs. HC Slovan

PrintThe New York Rangers will take on HC Slovan this morning in the team's third of four preseason friendlies this European trip.
Currently, this game seems to be a chance for either Erik Christensen and Sean Avery to get some separation for the 13th forward spot. With all the cuts that occurred on Saturday, it should be an opportunity to see a roster that has an opening night feel.
Expect both Christensen and Avery (if he's feeling better from the injury he suffered Friday) to get significant ice time, and every chance to play; mainly so that John Tortorella can get a good look at both of them. Right now, I would give the edge to Avery, but nothing is set in stone just yet.
The Rangers are 2-0 during this European run, and are looking to go 3-0 after today. The game will be aired on MSG, so make sure to kick back and enjoy some hockey today guys!

Uh first that line needs a big bod to go into corners and dig the puck out or to park in front of the net to pull defenders to him to free up space.
Second, Rupp can take facoffs at over 50%, that is why it makes sense to be next to Step. And also to to give that smallish line size.

i understand but you have realize that size is sometimes overrated and i would rather prefer skill. like someone who can puss and shoot the puck on stepan and zuccs line .. watch for the rest of the game there going to be ineffective because of rupp.

But your suggestions do neither and also has Prust not playing his RW position. Step needs someone on that line to take faceoffs. Rupp can do that and his is more than a good then you must think. He is not that far away skill wise to Prust or Feds.

Bickel, Bell and Eminger all look horrible. God help us if all three are in the line up in the first wo games as the Kings and Ducks will have field days. If Sauer and Staal are out a while either recall Erixon or bring in a vet.

The bigger ice surface is throwing them for a loop none of them are really that mobile. The slower the Dman is the harder it will be to adjust to a bigger ice surface

Hopefully we can teach Boyle to do that more often. He can be a force if he learns how to play the front of the net.
