New York Rangers Pregame: Wojtek Wolski and Jeff Woywitka In, Bell and Christensen Out
The New York Rangers participated in their morning skate, before taking on the Winnipeg Jets tonight at 8:30 PM. Notable changes to the lineup are Wojtek Wolski being back in the lineup after a nagging groin injury. Jeff Woywitka will be inserted into the lineup, in place of Brendan Bell.
Mike Rupp also stated the other day that he had a "cranky" knee, and was unsure if he would be playing. It obviously wasn't enough to keep him out of the lineup tonight, he's ready to go.
Henrik Lundqvist will get his first night off this season, and Marty Biron will make his season debut for the Blueshirts. There was concern, wondering if Biron received the start as a result of Hank's injury. John Tortorella cleared this rumor with assurance that the King was 100%. This was just a good time to give Biron a start in their final game, before returning to New York for the home opener.
We will have our Keys to the Game going up at 5:00 today, so look for that. Along with out open game thread starting at 8:00 PM tonight.

He needs to score tonight.

Please don’t put him on a line with Newbury and Rupp. He’s going to play 3 minutes if that’s the case than this entire site will bash him for being the reason we lost.
He needs to play with skilled players. I like Step on that first line, but he’s a center. We need him for that 3rd line in order to have 4 solid lines.
Lines I want to see:
Dubinsky Richards Gaborik
Fedotenko Anisimov Callahan
Wolski Stepan Rupp (I WANT MZA ON THAT WING. But, I guess Rupp will be)
Feds Boyle Prust

Nobody is gonna blame him for the loss
if he plays crappily he’ll be criticized just like anyone else. I mean I love AA, Dubi and Cally and I’ve been all over them for their shit play so far. It’s only fair.

Gonna double shift the poor Ukrainian?

Meant to put Newbury. My mistake.

I would like to see Feds with Gabby and Richards for a few. He would bring a defensive side to that line. Plus the experience to just get those guys the puck and go to the net.
Feds – Richards – Gabby
Dubi – Step – Cally
Wolski – Anisimov – Rupp
Newbury – Boyle – Prust

Vinny P “the tan man”, 8 points in 8 games with CBJ.
OUCH…….could have used him on that top line.

For a few shifts, I would like to see AA and BR switched. See what happens. BR between Dubi and Cally. AA between Step and Gabby. Just for a few shifts.

Line combinations are important but only up to a point, I think torts is way too focused on ‘finding the right combination’ and way to quick to shuffle the deck. He needs to feel like hes doing something and changing lines is about all he knows how to do. Seems like a very antiquated methodology if you ask me and im a huge proponent of letting guys skate together long enough to gel, and figure each other out. There is no magic combination that just clicks and suddenly we are a crisp, disciplined team. wish there was.
Might as well givbe the hot tubber some time on the PP
I’d also like to see MCDonagh get time on the point on the PP.

good news
We all know how talented Wolski is when he wants to be but I’m interested to see how he performs after his off season training training. He was supposedly working very hard, maybe he is finally putting it all together and will give us the spark that we need. Any ideas on line pairing? I love having Stepan on the top line and hope Torts doesn’t start messing with it already.

No ones gonna make a joke about EC being "out"?
Really? I’m disappointed in you all

EC’s stats are zero across the board in 5 games!
No plus/- no penalties – nothing! wow.

Carl Haeglin
We’re gonna see this guy eventually any way. Here are the lines I would love to see.
Hagelin-Richards-Gaborik (way i see it is if hagelin is as good as stepan on this line Stepan should be centering his own line)
Dubi-Artie-Cally (Don’t bail on the battery line just yet)
The very interchangeable bottom 6 in terms of time for each line on the ice.
Wolski-Stepan-MZA/Rupp
Feds-Boyle-Prust.
EC goes to Hartford.

Anyone find it ironic how Joe and Sam were drooling over Henrik’s new skates in the Calgary game? They were so excited about it, and turned out the be the issue from the Edmonton game haha

it wasn't the skates
it was the pressure of the straps wrapped around his skates from his leg pad that was causing him problems

Did Hank say that? Cause I can’t see how that’s possible with the shell around most goalie skates, at least on mine the break-in always sucked majorly but I never could feel any outside object pressing on them, he’ll pucks to the skate weren’t even too bad unless they pushed ur skate and twisted ur ankle
by teknics on Oct 24, 2011 3:59 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
Of course I haven’t seen his skates so I dunno what style he has
by teknics on Oct 24, 2011 4:08 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
I was just assuming
because he does have straps that wrap around his skate and I know that those could be tight enough to cut off circulation and cause a lot of discomfort

Most likely it was just the molding of the skate or some of the padding inside shifted. That strap doesn’t really pull against the skate, just prevents the pads from shifting upwards, lots of goalies even leave that strap somewhat loose depending on playing style

I read today that a ton of skilled players are playing poorly right now
So maybe its a epidemic that will end soon

or maybe
its just early in the season and the skill players take a little longer to get back into their groove
