Mike Rupp Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery, Expected To Miss 4-6 Weeks
The New York Rangers announced today that forward Mike Rupp had successful knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus, earlier today. However, Rupp is now expected to miss at least four to six weeks before returning to the line-up.
Mike Rupp registered a total of one goal, and 14 penalty minutes in seven games this season for the Rangers. He has missed the last six games due to his knee injury, in which he had just received surgery on. With the absence of Rupp, it seems as if Sean Avery will have to take over the tough guy role for the next month or so. He will also have the opportunity to show that he belongs on the New York Rangers.

Expected to be Sidelined Four to Six Weeks
New York, November 9, 2011 – New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that forward Mike Rupp underwent successful surgery earlier today to repair a torn meniscus in his knee, and is expected to be sidelined four to six weeks. The procedure was performed by Dr. Andrew Feldman at the NYU Langone Medical Center Hospital for Joint Diseases in Manhattan.

Meh, people are injured, people are filling in, don’t really think it matters who’s in for who. I’d guess deveaux is in rupps “role” more than avery is/could be

Yea… I hate to be a downer, but I don’t understand this misconception of Avery as a fighter, or a “tough guy”. He is a lightweight.
Not that size is everything, but Avery is 5’10’’, 195. Rupp is 6’5’’, 240. If Avery is taking that role… we’re should be terrified. Avery has never been a real fighter. As far as tough guy stuff, enforcer type of role, we’re looking at Prust and Deveaux. And, that’s fine. We should be looking to Avery for other things, and Prust and Devo fill that role nicely, while adding other aspects of their game.
The signing was a waste. He doesn’t fit anywhere on this team. He’s not skilled enough offensively to play top 6 minutes, and not strong enough defensively to play bottom 6, at least the way Torts wants this team constructed.
At least he’s apparently a cool guy and a good locker room presence.
We would have been better of resigning Prospal and running 4 lines.
"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
