New York Rangers News: New York Rangers Recall Stu Bickel
The New York Rangers have announced that they have recalled defenseman Stu Bickel, from the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League. Bickel was recalled on an emergency basis, due to the recent injury to Steve Eminger last night in Phoenix.
Steve Eminger went down last night, after a hard body check along the boards. Eminger left the game, and did not return later in game due to a separate shoulder. John Tortorella stated after that game that Eminger will be out for a while.
Bickel meanwhile, currently has one goal, and three assists in 27 games this season with the Connecticut Whale this season. Many people were wondering why Tim Erixon was not recalled, and that is due to cap restrictions. With Mike Rupp be activated off of the LTIR last night, the Rangers are up tight against the cap and do not have the room to recall Erixon.

Isn't there a blackout period between one player being called up and sent down?
Could this be why Timmy Erixon wasn’t called up?

the roster freeze starts tomorrow…I don’t think we have the cap room for Erixon

That is correct, I believe now that Rupp is activated we are tight on cap space.

i meant between calling up and sending down a player and then a couple days later calling him up and sending him down.
But your right we are tight on cap.

minus the last part about sending him down. just calling a player up after he was sent down only a couple days ago.

I see what you mean, but I’m not really sure if there a rule for that. I know earlier this season Detroit was calling up and sending down Fabian Brunnstrom almost every other day haha. But I know what you mean, it makes sense.

This all makes sense
Rupp brings so much to the table. You need him in the line up to compete with the top teams in the league. He is a dynamic difference maker.

Not surprising
Erixon was called up in the event that MDZ was rattled by that crash into the end-boards the other day. When it proved that MDZ was OK, Erixon got sent back.
Eminger is a different type of player than MDZ – so it’s perfectly logical to bring Bickel up – his game is more like Eminger’s.
Except he sucks.
One minor flaw.

It’s why people want Avery in the lineup right?

Avery has 200 % more goals than Dubi and Boyle in a lot fewer games
so he at least has the potential to increase our offensive output…better than EC anyway
@btown46
200%. 100% more than 1 is 2 goals.

EC needs to go
EC is horrible……No Way better then Avery and should never be on Ice again….He brings nothing to table…
Explain to me..Avery or EC going down doesn't free up space?
Huh?

they won’t clear waivers in time to avoid the roster freeze

Would trading EC
for a pick free up enough space?

I really don’t think a trade of that sort will happen.

None and nobody. A player that is hardly ever up to the task, shouldn’t and doesn’t belong in the nhl. Christensen stands out solely for his shootout prowess, which IMO is not very important when you factor the uselessness during 65mins of play. Yes he may show up to 4 or 5 games throughout the course of the season and on the off chance a game goes to the shootout he can be a nice player to have dressed but maybe we win more games in regulation without the enigma that is Mr. Christensen. I believe most teams are privy to the woes of EC and thus has no vaulue to us outside of the shootout.

Trading EC
Who the hell would want him? What GM looks at him and says, yeah, our team is missing what he brings?
Absolute Worst Ranger Fan!!!!!!....yet incredibly realistic and usually correct.
Anisimov scratched last night
I was at the game last night here in Phoenix, and was surprised to see Arty scratched…haven’t been able to find an explanation. Anyone know why?
Its time for Sather to dump massive amounts of $$ into a cloning facility in order to pump out Girardi and Staal clones.
I'd rather put skates on Staals bowel movements
Then watch Stu Bickel.
