New York Rangers Prospect Update: J.T. Miller Impressing At 2012 IIHF World Juniors
The New York Rangers knew what they were doing when they selected J.T. Miller with their first overall pick in the 2011 Entry Draft. Miller plays a physical style game, can also put the puck in the net and he fits perfectly into the current Rangers system.
J.T. Miller impressed the Rangers brass this past September at the Traverse City Tournament. His success in the Traverse City tournament earned him a spot on Team USA's 2012 IIHF World Juniors roster this past month. In USA's first game they ran all over Denmark in an 11-3 victory, and J.T. Miller came away with the eighth goal of the game.
Miller is constantly improving his play game by game, and it makes the Rangers that much more interested in him. This will be another great opportunity to impress the Rangers brass at an international level before heading back to Plymouth. Thus far, he has done nothing but impress and we will continue to track his progress in USA's next game, tomorrow against Finland.

I wanted Armia and glad the Rangers took Miller. Miller fits the Rangers’ style to a “T” and I would not be surprised if he is with the Rangers big club by this time next year after some games in Hartford. he clearly went the junior route as opposed to North Dakota to get to the NHL quicker.
When he was drafted he said his goal was to play in the NHL in the 12-13 season, he apparently has grown pretty well too

he does need to fill out a little more. he’s still only 18/19. but you saw at Traverse the way he plays, it’s north/south. he goes to the net and plays along the boards very well.

He looks like the player we thought Dubinsky was going to be…

He now goes by “the player formerly known as Dubinsky” or TPFKAD for short.

He could have been a contender…

thats not overdramatic at all….
"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
I believe this WJC is going to be good for Miller
get him some big game experience. The Rangers have raved about his overall game, and his talent at the OHL level has shown that he can score as well. Now it’s a matter of seeing what he can do during the World Juniors — which, in my opinion, is the best test of merit for prospects.

i agree with all the above. but i always want to add that he has to be legit, because he’s the only player in the world that makes that Project Messier bucket look good. i mean that helmet is hideous and it looks pretty bad ass on him

Miller has more experience
Than most people know about as Miller has been a part of the USNTDP for the last three seasons playing for the under-17 and under-18 teams that have taken part in exhibition games against some of the top hockey programs in the USA.
Last spring before the Rangers selected him, Miller was part of the gold medal winning team at the world under 18 tournament. Miller was selected as one of the top three players for team USA and lead them with 13 points.
This experience will help him no doubt but in Miller’s case I think playing on a good Plymouth Whalers team will be the bigger test.
Plymouth has a legitimate chance to win the OHL championship and with Miller already the team’s leading scorer should do pretty good.
It is a shame though that the Rangers are playing tonight because there’s a great opportunity for ranger fans to get a peek at two of the key prospects in action against each other.
Michael St. Croix who leads all ranger prospects with 55 points will leave his Edmonton Oil Kings into Moose Jaw for a game against Dylan McIlrath and the Warriors.
The two teams are fighting for the top spot in the WHL’s eastern conference. The game will be webcast at WHL.ca for free.

Plymouth also has Rakkel and Noesen
Two other 1st round forwards. Not saying it diminshes his production, but he is not the only guy thet have.
Sort of like Oshawa/Thomas with Boone Jenner (who looks like a beast at WJC).
