Breaking News: Tim Erixon Assigned To Connecticut

For those of you that are still up, the New York Rangers announced that they have assigned defenseman, Tim Erixon to the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League. With the return of Jeff Woywitka from his foot injury he suffered two games ago, Tim Erixon was sent down for some more conditioning.

Erixon played some solid hockey in the two games he was present for. Not to mention, he came right into two big divisional games against the New Jersey Devils, and the New York Islanders and handled himself fairly well. Although, it seems as if John Tortorella believes Erixon needs to work on his game some more, and gain some more experience in the American Hockey League.

While we're on the topic of players returning from injury, Wojtek Wolski is a short time away from returning as well. John Tortorella stated that he wouldn't be making an immediate changes when he returns. What are your guys thought's on all of this?

Also be sure to check out recaps of the Rangers 4-1 loss to the Washington Capitals, and the third episode of HBO's 24/7.

Not surprised.

A cap move as well as for conditioning. The Rangers are poised to make a deal shortly, and precious cap room will be needed. Leads me to believe Wolski will rejoin the team to be showcased, and probably EC as well.

What realistic moves do you think are possible

Considering current cap situations.

Good question.

I suspect the Rangers see one or two viable moves, which will likely include putting someone on waivers (EC).

In terms of deals, keep an eye out for a deal with Columbus for either Brassard or Dorsett, and possibly Tampa Bay for Purcell or Downie.

Do you think someone will pick up EC on waivers?

Yes, if there’s a need (Anaheim, because they need depth; Tampa, same reason).

Woywitka

A lot of folks have pointed out a litany of flaws in MDZ and Eminger’s game; yet, Woywitka keeps getting a pass. He stood like a big redwood tree on the blue line as Semin went by him en route to the 3rd goal last night. For a guy as big as Jeff, he doesn’t hit anyone, doesn’t have a hard shot from the point, and doesn’t clear out the crease. After watching him during the 1st part of this season, it is no surprise that he was a 1st round bust, who was put on waivers.

For our 6th defensemen, aren’t we better off giving V-Tank or some other D-man like Bell a shot?

If you think Semin made Woywitka look slow, you don’t want V-Tank standing there instead.

I think Woywitka gets a pass because expectations are so low. He’s a stop gap. We see MDZ as a long-term piece on this team, therefore critiquing his game is going to be more thorough.
No one in their right mind thinks Woywitka has a genuine future on this team. As soon as Torts thinks Erixon is ready, or maybe as soon as Staal comes back, he’s gone.

To be completely honest, that turnover was completely on Richards. By the time Woywitka was able to turn around and get set, Semin was full steam ahead.

MDZ and Eminger are stellar this season. Woywitka, not at all.

Funny.

I read an Eklund the other morning that has Lecavalier and Bergeron going to Montreal for Gomez and Campoli.

Thoughts? ‘Cause to me, that actually wouldn’t be so bad.

I read an Eklund
Thoughts?

Getting lost on the internet is the only logical explanation.

Had this thought about this..

IF the new CBA has the amnesty clause available like back in ’06, this deal could actually work.

Both Lecavalier and Gomez could get dropped, and both teams get out from bad deals…

But, you’re right. Don’t know an ass he won’t wipe to collect shit to spread.

the line-up and other thoughts

After the Caps game I feel like we need more size. Staal and Sauer can’t come back soon enough. Also we could use more grit up front.

Does anybody else feel like Richards is struggling? He’s a minus almost every game and he’s found his way onto my fantasy teams bench after about four straight zeros. He coughs up the puck and doesn’t appear all that strong. I hope he finds his game.

Dubinsky is coming on finally. Watch out for a big second half from him.

Mitchell has been very strong along the boards and I am happy Torts is playing him. His hands aren’t too bad either.

Wolski better be moved because he and EC are losers, plain and simple. No battle. No jam. Get them out. We need warriors because this team is poised to make a run.

Now.

Richards I don’t feel is slumping…
