Derek Boogaard New York Times series
the Times researched Boogaard's life for 6 months and this is the first of three articles about what they discovered.
[Insert Note: 9:05 AM 12/6/11 by Rob L] This deserves to be on the front page for a while - as its a really great piece of sports journalism. I don't like to throw out the "required reading" cliche a lot, but this series is when I will do so.

This is a brilliant series.
Watching this episode, I couldn’t help but cry a little…

Compelling, and eye-opening. As fans, we never, ever give any thought to what goes through the mind and body of an NHL enforcer, this will make you do that.

Amazing work.
Some of this stuff I’ve never even considered.
Just wow. Great.
Rec’d.
"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
LET'S GO RANGERS!!!
It’s really a sad story, and disturbing as well. The NHL needs to look in the mirror. I didn’t like how easy it was for Boogaard and I’m sure others to score so many pills from different NHL doctors.
"To everybody else we're underdogs, but we go in thinking we can handle any team in the NHL."

Nice post joe
I came to do the same but you beat me to it by putting it up a few days ago when part I came out. Needless to say it was a great read and much more enjoyable than the usual crap I fill my time with at work.
