Newbury Returned to CT

As expected, Kris Newbury has been returned to the CT Whale this morning. Newbury was initially called up to serve as a replacement for Wojtek Wolski, but Wolski’s ribs were better last night, resulting in Newbury serving as the scratch. Newbury said he was thrilled that he was the first call up for the Rangers due to injury, and he will likely continue to serve as the first call up, should any more injuries arrive. Newbury was acquired for Jordan Owens at last year’s trade deadline, and has been serviceable as a call up this season. In eight games this year, Newbury has an assist, 35 PIMs, and a -2 rating while playing on the fourth line.

On an unrelated note, can someone explain why Hank’s getting the nod tonight? I’m glad he landed his 200th win last night, but his play was less-than stellar.

Despite the poor defense on the play, Brown’s shot should have been stopped. Greene’s goal may have been the result of a deflection, but the refs didn’t think so and I’m not seeing it on replay. Brown’s wraparound was easily the ugliest goal Hank let in last night.

I just think tonight’s game is another chance to sit Hank and let him sort things out.

Agree

on the first goal, but the second was a deflection off Boyle’s stick so the shooter gets the goal ( I was at the game and saw the change in direction of the shot immediately), and the last wasn’t a wraparound, it was a freaky goal deflected off Staal’s stick and then bounced off the back of either Lundqvist’s head or shoulder (possibly both, it’s hard to tell from the replay).

He didn’t even get the chance to leave his own impression on the seat in the press box

A lot of smoke and desperate clawing at the door. It wouldn’t work. It would just be a big, hot mess." -Dig Deep
