John Tortorella Blasts Referees After Ranger Loss

I give Torts credit, he's kept relatively quiet all season when we know their have been some games the Rangers have played this year where the officiating was just abominable. After today's game however, the head coach didn't mince words when describing the job the refs did:

Jesse Spector over at The Blueshirts Blog has the video:

I have a feeling a former Ranger head coach now sitting in a position of power with the NHL will be spinning the Wheel of Justice on this one.

Outta yah gd mind...

Garrioch says:

- C Brad Richards, Dallas: He turned down what sources say was a "fair market" extension from the Stars, but has declared he wants to stay. There is some talk Richards wants a long-term deal in the eight-year range if he’s going to stay. Nobody wants to give out those deals with the CBA expiring in 16 months. The Kings, Rangers and Sabres are in hot pursuit with Los Angeles GM Dean Lombardi under pressure to add scoring . The asking price is huge: The word is Dallas GM Joe Nieuwendyk wanted two roster players and a draft pick from New York to open the negotiations. Nothing may happen and a major issue is the Stars can’t get Richards to tell them whether he’s willing to waive his no-movement clause.

Forget that.

Two Roster players…Have to think a Stepan and McD/Cally/Dubi or something and a #1 to start.

Either way, no thanks. Just no fuckin thanks.

Sorry, I should have stressed what freaked me out the most, and it isn’t Joe N. Eight frikken years??

by BigB22 on Feb 27, 2011 11:48 PM EST up reply actions

Yup, that’s what I’ve been saying. There’s absolutely no reason he’s going to want a short-term contract unless it’s for a lot of money, say 8 million. He’s going to want something 8 or so years probably around a 6.5m cap hit…somebody is going to wind up paying him a lot of money in declining health years for little production.

If that’s true, I reiterate what I said earlier in the week: Joe N has lost his mind, and I’m not sure about Richards’ mental capacity either.

+1

Loved Joey News as a player, and granted he’s been put in a tough position in Dallas, but he’s lost it. Either that or he’s getting handed terrible advice from ownership.

I don’t have any more faith in Garrioch’s reporting abilities than I do in incarcerated bob. He is a hack.

after the blatant failure of the refs on many calls today...

they are all currently checking to see if they still have the balls to do their job right…

Fuck Colin Campbell. The ref who called Dubinsky for interference should be suspended and fined.

Let me know how that works out for you . . .

yup 100%

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

LET'S GO RANGERS!!!

Going back to the Stepan incident....

If Stepan got fined for that hit, then………..Matt Cooke, Niskaanen, and Green himself should have all been fined, because all their hits were worse that night, and intentional.
