Around SBN: Now They've Screwed Spurs, UEFA Willing To Review Rule

Gilroy comes out of the lineup for the first time since Jan. 2. Defenseman Steve Eminger and left wing Sean Avery will be back in the lineup... Wolski will be a healthy scratch for the first time in 28 games since being acquired from the Coyotes... Prust says he's good to go tonight. No surprise.

Gillies and the other goons aren’t playing for the sticks right?

To recap:

Wolski out, Avery in.
Gilroy out, Eminger in.
Prust will play tonight.

I am aware there is a FanPost about Wolski being out, stick lift to Jwuer. Wanted to post this earlier but didn’t want to push Dave’s great article down without giving it some time at the top of the page.

DIG NOBEL DEEP?

"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

LET'S GO RANGERS!!!

Don’t really understand why…maybe Torts just wanted to have Avery in case something happens with the Islanders and Wolski got the short-straw?

Wolski was fairly invisible against San Jose, and with the 13 forwards, it’s looking more like “what have you done for me lately” type thing.

I don’t agree with it at all, but it is what it is.

Wolski has five goals and 11 assists with the Rangers but has gone scoreless in his last two games, the shootout goal notwithstanding, and has gone eight games without a goal.

Think it is more of a case of an offensive player not producing. Also, Avery has been a good soldier and hasn’t raised a stink about being a scratch or getting little to no ice time in games. We would have probably seen Wolski dressed tonight if Prust wasn’t good to go, but Prust being Prust you knew that he was going to grit his teeth and play through pain tonight.

If it wasn’t the Isles, Prust probably sits. I imagine Prust will rest against FLA, and maybe OTT

If they ever try to genetically perfect a hockey player, they should take the heart, will, and tolerance of pain from Brandon Prust’s DNA.

I think the Third Reich tried that back in the day. Pope Prust might be the one successful experiment they had, but he escaped.

I was thinking more along the lines of Captain America for Prust. But, y’know… Canadian. Then again that was a super soldier serum. Which, by the way, is what Brandon Prust’s blood is- undiluted super soldier serum.

True

My post had less to do with Avery and more to do with Wolski. I think there are better people to scratch to get Avery involved. I also completely disagree the way Avery has been handled this year, he’s been one of the most consister Rangers this season. But that’s for another day.

by Jwuer on Mar 15, 2011 4:52 PM EDT up reply actions

Wolski has been playing well. Another thing, people said WW won’t buy into the system, he wont hit , etc. Without looking at stats, I have seen WW lay several big hits in the last several games. He may not be scoring, but he is contributing.

Avery is usually effective against Islanders

Not talking about the agitating shit, actual quality of his game. I have no stats to back this up, but as a Ranger I think he’s fared well against them. Not sure about Torts sitting Wolski versus Zuccarello, but who am I to judge the 2nd most accomplished American born professional hockey coach to ever live.

Avery has 0 goals 3 assists (all in the same game) with 11 SOG in four games against the Islanders this year.
